INTRODUCTION

The Nokia Morph is a theoretical future device based on NANOTECHNOLOGY that might enable future communication devices.

Morph also demonstrates how future mobile devices might be stretchable, flexible, transparent and self cleaning.

HISTORY

Introduced- (MoMA) in New York City-as part of the

"Design and the Elastic Mind" exhibition. Emerged through collaboration between Nokia Research Center and Cambridge University Nanoscience Center in the UK.

TECHNOLOGY

Nanotechnology
NANOTECHNOLOGY means The science, engineering and

technology related to the understanding and control of matter at the length scale of approximately 1 to 100 nanometers. NANOTECHNOLOGY allows control of physical properties of nanostructures and devices with single molecule precision.

Some Features Are

1) Sensing

2) Haptic Surface
3) Stretchable & Flexible Electronics 4) Nanowire Lithography

5) Transparent Electronics
6) Self-cleaning 7) Advanced Power Sources

1. SENSING
OBSERVE OUR LOCAL ENVIRONMENT THAT INCLUDES ANALYZING POLLUTIONS ,TEMPERATURE etc.

NANOSENSORS CONSTRUCT A COMPLETE AWARNESS OF THE USER CONTEXT BOTH PERSONAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENABLING AN APPROPRIATE AND INTELLIGENT RESPONSE.

INORDER TO IMPROVE SENSOR AND SIGNAL PROCESING CHARACTERISTICS NOKIA INTRODUCED NANOWIRE LITHOGRAPHY (NWL) PROCESS THAT FABRICATES A LARGE AREA AND SELF ALIGNED 3D ARCHITECTURES.

Nanostructure of morph is similar to this.

NANOGRASS, NANOSENSORS, NANOFLOWERS, NANOSCALE MESHetc ARE THE NANOTECHNOLOGIES USED INSIDE NOKIA MORPH.

ECO SENSOR CONCEPT

ECOSENSOR CONCEPT CONSISTS OF TWO PARTS

1) A WEARABLE SENSOR UNIT THAT CAN ANALYZE LOCAL ENVIRONMENT AS WELL AS PERSONS HEALTH.

2) THE SECOND PART IS A POWER EFFICENT MOBILE PHONE. NOKIA 3110 EVOLVE

2. HAPTIC SURFACE
Touch sensitive and responsive [haptic] surface of NOKIA morph is Provided by large area sensing surfaces using piezoelectric nanowire arrays. ZnO nanowires are used to produce the piezoelectric nanowire arrays. Buttons on the device surface are real 3D forms.

3. STRETCHABLE ELECTRONICS
The nanoscale structure of the electronics enables stretching. Stretchable electronics structure to allow device form factors. Nanoscale internal structures controls the elasticity. Zno nanowires enables flexiblity

4.NANOWIRE LITHOGRAPHY

5. TRANSPARENT ELECTRONICS
The whole electronic circuit inside NOKIA morph is entirely transparent.

Nanoscale electronics becomes invisible to the human eye.

TRRAM is introduced by KAIST ,TRANSPERENCY 81%

6. SELF CLEANING
The surface of morph is superhydrophobic that makes it extremely dirt repellent. Nanostructured surface known as nanoflowers that naturally repel water, dirt and even finger-prints is used here. Silicon carbide nanostructures called as nanoflowers.

7. ADVANCED POWER SOURCES

NANOGRASS is used for harvesting solar power.

NOKIA developed a full solid state flexible DYE SENSITIZED SOLAR CELL (DSSC) using ZnO
Nanostructures which act as photovoltaics For this purpose.

6. ADVANTAGES
STRETCHABLE AND FLEXIBLE ELECTRONICS. TRANSPARENT ELECTRONICS. SELF-CLEANING SURFACES. IT CAN SENSE ITS SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT. IT DRAWS POWER FROM THE SUN FOR RECHARGING.

7. DISADVANTAGES
THE INITIAL MANUFACTURING COST IS VERY HIGH. THE EXPECTED MARKET PRICE IS AROUND RS 60000. CONVENTIONAL DSSCS PROVIDES INSTABILITY RELATED TO SOLVENT.

STRETCHABLE BATTERIES HAVE NOT YET BEING DISCOVERED.

LEAKAGE AND EVAPORATION.

FUTURE SCOPE
THE SHAPES COULD BE MADE MUCH MORE SIMPLER LIKE IN RING SHAPE. MORPH IN OPEN MODE COULD ACT AS A KEYBOARD FOR PCs.

CONCLUSION
Morph as a snapshot of a new kind of mobility made possible through nanotechnology and along with Nokia Research as their slogan says Thinking, understanding and creating mobile innovations for cultures all over the world Morph has the potential of being both evolutionary and revolutionary when applied to the field of mobile technology Thus NOKIA MORPH is just a beginning to the future mobiles
