Soybeans are deficient in methionine, Brazil nuts are rich, and known as a source of allergen; A gene encoding a storage protein from Brazil nut was introduced into soybean to increase methionine content; Transgenic soybean expressed high methionine content; But the transgenic soybean showed (+) allergic reaction to some people; The project was discontinued.
