Head quarter- New DELHI, India Plant location-Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu Operates in- City cars, Low cost sedans, Compact Suvs. Employees- 6,903 Key people- Mr. Bo Shin Seo ( MD& CEO) Mr. Arvind Saxena (Executive officer marketing and sales). Plant capacity- 60,000 per annum.
TIME LINE
1996- HMIL was formed in INDIA by HYUNDAI MOTOR COMPANY of South Korea. 1997- Started operation at a plant in TAMILNADU with a capacity of 30,000 units per annum. 1998- Launched the SANTRO as the Sunshine car. 2002- Entered the Sedan market with the ACCENT. 2008- Made another production facility in TAMILNADU with a capacity of 60,000 units per annum. Till 2009- Made INDIA as the export hub for its small car to cater ASIA and middle east. Till 2009- Launched the TUSCON to enter the SUV market but it failed due the high cost. 2010- Launched the SANTA FE (SUV), which is a hit today. TODAY- Indias 2nd largest car seller after MSIL and the largest car exporter ahead of MSIL, TATA and M&M.

PREMIUM 7.5 AUG12 HATCH BACK THREATS TO THE COMPANY Every automobile company either indigenous or foreign is talking of green cars but HMIL has no such plans. Govt. policies are making it easier for the foreign companies to enter the INDIAN car market.
