Founded in 2002 by Mr. Chris Murray. Mr. Murray retired in 2008. Mr. Morris took over as sponsor in 2008 - 2009. The name of the organization was changed in 2009 by the students from Robot Club to Robotics Team.

ARTICLE I: Name of Organization
Section 1: The name of this organization shall be Casa Grande Union High School Robotics Team. Section 2: The organization may also be referred to as the Mecha-Knights, FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Team #996.

ARTICLE II: Purpose of Organization Section 1: The team shall be an integral part of the instructional program providing additional opportunities for secondary students in the Casa Grande High School District to develop mechanical knowledge, technical abilities, interpersonal skill and hands-on experiences through the design and construction of robots and other electro-mechanical devices. Section 2: Promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education at Casa Grande Union High School District and the surrounding community. Section 3: Construct a robot and do all manner of other things to compete each year in the FIRST Robotics Competition.

Section 4: Goals of the Organization A. To strengthen the confidence of the students in themselves and in the work they do.

B. To develop skills to prepare for the future.


C. To encourage and practice efficient money management and team operations. D. To encourage scholarship and promote school loyalty.

FIRST Robotics Competition
Our Corporate Sponsor for the 4th year in a row is Nissan North America. Teams must register and pay their registration fee by December 3, 2011.

Workshops will be held Jan. 6, 2012 at Brophy College Prep, Phoenix, in the evening before kick-off.
Kick-off will be hosted by Brophy College Prep, Phoenix, on January 7, 2012. Duel in the Desert Pre-Ship Scrimmage will be held at ASU Polytechnic Campus, Mesa, on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012. The FRC AZ Regional will be held at Hamilton High School in Chandler, AZ on March 23-24, 2011.

Pre-Season Activities
Mentor FLL teams at CG Middle Schools. Attend training at CAC in SolidWorks, Fabrication, and LabView on Saturday mornings. programming

Attend training at Microchip Technologies (Hosted by Team Caution, FRC Team 1492) in Chandler. Work on projects at CGUHS on Tuesday and Thursday after school.

Fundraising and team marketing activities.

Projects

Construct and program Parallax Boe-bots to compete in a maze solving competition.


Modify your Boe-bot to compete in a Sumobot competition. Construct a versatile basic robot from a few basic parts.

Program your basic robot for autonomous behavior.


Equip your basic robot with sensors to record data about its environment. Equip your basic robot with an RF device to allow it to talk to other robots and engage in swarm activity (distributed robotic system).

Control your robot remotely over the internet. Have your robot transmit data about its environment to a website that you create.

Dues: $20 per school year. (buys your team shirt) Payable in the Book Store by your 3rd meeting attendance. Bring your receipt to the Club Secretary to Activate your membership.
