Provide advice guidance and support on sport for disabled people Explanation
Through projects and programmes they have undertaken in the past or continue to run, EFDS has a varied amount of informationto share with any person with disabilities to use to help them achieve all that they can and help them in the sporting world. If they are looking at top tips on accessible communication or how to better engage themselves or other disabled people within their ownprogrammes- there is a strong chance that they will support them. There is a section on their website designed to assist with: Relevant research past and present to help with planning, future study or key statistics Key publications on disabled people in sport to provide wider reading on various subjects Best practiceon successful programmes Information on key interest points forsportand disabled people Useful links

Empower disabled people to take a more active role in all aspects of sport and physical activity

Explanation They work with the National Disability Sport Organisations (NDSOs) who in turn work with specific impairment groups. These partnerships allow us to understand and signpost disabled people and the extended networks to a range of opportunities and information.

Example They work with UK Deaf Sport. UK Deaf Sport is a registered charity which aims to encourage Deaf people to participate, to enjoy and to excel at sport. They also provide information on events across the country.

Influencing and supporting partners across the delivery system of sport to be more inclusive and to provide a greater range and quality of sporting opportunities for disabled people
Example Explanation
They are working with THE FA to get more disabled people participating in Sport. The FA want to increase the amount of disabled people participating in football by 25,000. They do this by offering a range of new courses that specify in teaching coaches how to help disabled participants. This is called a Disability Equality Workshop and ensures that everyone has equal oppertunities when it comes to taking part in sport.

Course Content: This is a workshop designed to answer questions such as: Do you appreciate: The benefits of involving disabled people in football? The differences and similarities between disabled people? The importance of consultation with disabled people? Can you: Define 'disability'? Identify examples ofgood and poor practice in football and adjustments which can be made? Explain where to go for help and guidance? Produce an action plan to actively promote Disability Equality in your club or football organisation? The workshop is interactive and informal and tutors draw on participant's experiences and knowledge as well as developing learning through small group activities and in presentations. Practical Involvement: There is no practical (i.e. on-field) aspect to the workshop. Assessment: There is no formal assessment; the progress of learners is monitored through the group activities and discussions. Re-assessment: It is recommended that individuals do an online module approximately three years after attending a workshop.

The EFDS events division allows disabled people to compete in sport locally, nationally and even internationally, there is a variety of sports for the participants to join, this is available for all impairment groups.

Example Explanation
The Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI) has been established for over 10 years, with a national coverage of 400 IFI Mark accredited gym facilities. IFI is a programme managed by EFDS, which offers disabled people more choice and opportunities to enjoy the benefits of physical activity -

The scheme is creating more gym facilities that are available to disabled people. This means that more and more disabled people will be able to use high quality sporting facilities and be encouraged to do so by the fact that it is easy for them to use. Including Disabled Pupils, this course is a six hour course which focuses on the practical delivery of a session. It helps build staff confidence which enabled them to provide a high standard session for both disabled and non-disabled participants. New disability Equality training course, this is a three hour course which covers areas such as communication and perception, and makes coaches better equipped to offer an inclusive service to all.
