Adolescents learning

As adolescents grow they become more focused on the development of the physical self. In fact, this period is marked by a dramatic physical changes are significant in their psychological development.

Puberty- is a period of rapid physical maturation involving hormonal and bodily changes. Although there is a wide range of normal ages, girls typically begin the process of puberty at age 10 or 11; boys at age 12 or 13.

Girls usually complete puberty by ages 1517,[ while boys usually complete puberty by ages 16 18

Menarche- onset puberty among girls the onset of menstruation, which occurs on average between ages 12 and 13 The major landmark of puberty for males is the first ejaculation, which occurs on average at age 13

According to Piaget, adolescents is the critical juncture where thoughts are more logical, abstract, and idealistic than the concrete operational thinking. It means that adolescents consolidate their concrete operational thoughts to generate hypothetical deductive reasoning.

Early adolescents provides interactions of physical, cognitive, and emotional development. This critical juncture of biological changes, emerging cognitive capacities, and a new range of emotional experiences.

The early adolescence stage is marked by a decline in egocentrism. - it means that as adolescents grow, they develop flexibility of thoughts and so they become less egocentric

There are 2 kinds of egocentrism that affect there interactions 1) Preoccupation with their own thoughts 2) Preoccupation with other peoples thoughts David Elkind- described the formation of personal fable- an intense investment of their own thoughts and feelings and a belief that these thoughts are unique.

Adolescents believe that they alone have certain insights and no one could understand their own thoughts. Second egocetrism is about imaginary audience- an assumption that they are the center of interest of other peoples thought and attention.

Adult learning

Adult learning refers to the practice of teaching and educating adults. It is lifelong education, usually in the form of short or part time courses and training designed to make professionals up-to-date with the latest development in their field Adult learning is a conceived in the perspective of lifelong learning.

John Dewey once said that Education is life in itself

It only shows that education is really the lifeblood of every human endeavor. It is the foundation of our future and an effective means of gaining opportunities to have control of our lives.

- Adults have accumulated knowledge and experiences that can add or hinder
