Year 2

WHAT IS LANGUAGE ARTS?

According to the year 2 teachers guide book, it is a new

component design to create appreciation and enjoyment


amongst pupils as they learn language.

The experience should be fun filled and used as a means

to create confidence.

It also provides pupils with an opportunity to integrate, experiment and apply what they have learnt in the other

modules in fun filled, activity-based and meaningful


experiences.

THE LEARNING STANDARDS:


Content standards 4.1 By the end of the 6 year primary schooling pupils will be able to enjoy and appreciate rhymes, poems and songs through performance. 4.2 By the end of the 6 year primary schooling pupils will be able to express personal response to literary texts. 4.3 By the end of the 6 year primary schooling pupils will be able to plan, organize and produce creative works for enjoyment. 4.1.1 able to enjoy action songs and jazz chants through non verbal response 4.1.2 Able to sing songs and recite jazz chant with correct pronunciations, rhythm and intonation.
