My name is Dr. Peter Fisk. I am a psychologist. I have been a licensed clinical psychologist for twenty-five years and have had a successful practice, gaining many invaluable experiences, as you might imagine, about every face a person can present to the world.
Through the individual courage and bravery, of all of my patients and their variety of behaviors, I feel that I have acquired the necessary tools to write with candor, believability, sensitivity, immediacy and the right mix of providing intellectual stimulation with an entertaining style on topical subjects.
In many ways, writing has been my life’s raison d’etre, in addition to performing psychotherapy. I feel that I have been incredibly fortunate to be imbued with the gift of storytelling in a manner that can and does reach out to people. I also feel that my writing touches them both intellectually and emotionally.
I presently live in Albuquerque, New Mexico having moved to this wonderful city from Los Angeles, California. I resided in LA for over thirty-five years. My wife and I decided to move to Albuquerque to remove myself and my family from what we felt was pressured living in an environment that always seemed to be in a rush. I personally, did not feel it was conducive to creating art in any form.
I have three children. Greg, who is twenty-six and an actor, living in Los Angeles. Megan is twenty-two and living in Albuquerque. She is in college, at the University of New Mexico, learning to become a psychologist. My youngest, child, Stacey, is also in school at Brandeis University in Boston, majoring in global communications.
I have published a non-fiction book entitled, GIVE AND TAKE WITH EB & FLO, by Fithian Press in Santa Barbara Ca. I have also won an award for short fiction for my short story (REPLAY) sponsored by the Southwest Writer’s Conference, 2007. I was also a finalist for a short story competition for Glimmer Train Magazine. I am presently under contract, with Heuer Publishing, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as they have published my stage play, entitled, A CRACK IN THE WALL. In addition to this, the play is under consideration for performance in a local theater, here in Albuquerque. I have been awarded 16th place, out of over 1,000 entrants, in Mainstream Literary Fiction for the 79th Annual Short Story Competition, hosted by Writer’s Digest for 2010.
I have written over seventy-five short stories, five short, absurdist plays, six novels, several hundreds poems, twenty-three academic essays, and numerous articles.
Writing is a tremendous part of my personal meaning in life. I hope that you find the query interesting and intriguing enough to want to see more. Thank you for your time in reading this short bio.показать меньше
