The article considerers a new area of literary criticism the theory on history of literature.
The research of the world literature in the context of culture leads to formation of an
independent area within the theory of literature. The theory on history of literature with its
historiography, scientific methods, concrete receptions of research and some impressing
achievements turns out to be more and more separated from the poetics and the historical
poetics. The prospects of development for this area appear to be rather optimistic.

D.I.FONVIZINS TESTAMENT: PROBLEM OF INTERPRETATION

The article is about D.I. Fonvizins testament which is viewed in contest of the writers
confessed creativity. The work defines some basic genre features of the testament, its role and
functions in Old Russian tradition. Fonvizins testament is considered from traditional and in7
novative points of view. The author points out that in 18th c. the testament lost its spiritual
component and became merely a property document.
