The coins are round in shape with a raised rim on the obverse and the reverse. The coins’ edge
is grained.
The obverse has: the relief image showing the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus in
the circle surrounded by the geometrical ornament, beneath — the year of issue (alloy stan-
dard on the gold and silver coins); and circumferential inscriptions: at the top — РЭСПУБЛI-
КА БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS) and at the bottom — 100 РУБЛЁЎ
(100 RUBLES) on the gold coin, 20 РУБЛЁЎ (20 RUBLES) on the silver coin, and 1 РУБЕЛЬ
(1 RUBLE) on the copper-nickel coin.
The reverse has: at the top — a circumferential inscription: БЕЛАРУСЬ—КIТАЙ
(BELARUS—CHINA); in the center — two arches symbolizing the openness of relations and
cooperation between both countries; beneath the left-hand arch — the landscape typical of
Belarus and an inscription in Chinese: BELARUS; beneath the right-hand arch — the repre-
sentation of the Great Wall of China and an inscription in Chinese: CHINA; and at the bot-
tom — a circumferential inscription engraved in two lines: 15 ГОД ДЫПЛАМАТЫЧНЫХ
АДНОСIН (15 YEARS OF DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS).

tions: at the top — РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS) and at the
bottom — 20 РУБЛЁЎ (20 RUBLES) on the silver coin and 1 РУБЕЛЬ (1 RUBLE) on the cop-
per-nickel coin.
The reverse has: in the center — the relief portrait of Napoleon Orda, an outstanding artist,
composer, and publicist, against the background of bow lines and scattered musical notes; and
at the bottom — circumferential inscriptions engraved in two lines: 1807—1883 and НА-
ПАЛЕОН ОРДА (NAPALEON ORDA).

the rays of the sun and comprising an octagonal geometric pattern with the decorative ele-
ments; beneath — the year of issue (alloy standard shown on the silver coin); and circumfer-
ential inscriptions: at the top — РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS)
and at the bottom — ДВАЦЦАЦЬ РУБЛЁЎ (TWENTY RUBLES) on the silver coin and
АДЗIН РУБЕЛЬ (ONE RUBLE) on the copper-nickel coin.
The reverse has: in the center — the relief image of bliny (pancakes), an essential attribute of
Maslenitsa celebrations, beneath — the clay pot filled with sour cream and a wooden spoon
therein; at the top — the relief image of the sun and snowflakes symbolizing the meeting of the
winter and the spring (the center of the sun on the silver coin is inlaid with a synthetic crystal
of yellow color); on the left and on the right — relief elements of Belarusian national orna-
ment; and at the bottom — a circumferential inscription: МАСЛЕНIЦА (MASLENITSA).

The obverse has: in the center — the reconstruction of the citadel gateway of ancient Mensk;
at the top — the relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus, a circum-
ferential inscription: РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS), at the bot-
tom — the year of issue (alloy standard shown on the silver coin), and denomination: 20 РУБ-

The reverse has: the relief image of Gleb of Mensk, on the left — the representation of the
unique stone icon of the Theotokos dating back to the 12th—13th centuries which has been
found during the excavations of ancient Mensk, and a circumferential inscription: ГЛЕБ
МЕНСКI (GLEB OF MENSK) and the period of his rule: from 1101 to 1119.

СКАЯ ЦАРКВА (THE CHURCH OF THE TRANSFIGURATION OF THE SAVIOUR); on the left — the
relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus, beneath — an inscription: РЭСПУБЛI-
КА БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS) engraved in two lines, and at the bottom — alloy stan-
dard; and on the right — the coin’s denomination: 1000 РУБЛЁЎ (1,000 RUBLES); and beneath — the

The coins are round in shape with a raised rim on the obverse and the reverse. The coins’ edge
is grained.
The obverse has: at the top — the relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of
Belarus (in the center) and a circumferential inscription: РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE
REPUBLIC OF BELARUS); in the center — the stylized image of the wind rose (the silver coin
features a hologram thereon) against the background of the navigation sea chart; at the bot-
tom — an inscription: 20 РУБЛЁЎ (20 RUBLES) on the silver coin and 1 РУБЕЛЬ (1 RUBLE)
on the copper-nickel coin; and on the left — the year of issue (in the right-hand part of the sil-
ver coin there are: alloy standard and trademark of The Mint of Poland PLC).
The reverse has: on the left — the image of The Sedov, one of the biggest and fastest sailing
ships in the world, against the background of a seascape; on the right — the reduced image of
the ship (outboard profile); and beneath — an inscription: СЕДОВ (THE SEDOV) in original.
