About Us
D

isunity discourages effective participation

in the social life. All-Ukrainian Association
of Social Organisations 'Alraid' created in
1997 was the first one to unite Ukrainian Muslims
regardless their ethnic origin, social status and
differences of opinion for certain matters.
This work gives us neither profit nor political influence. Committing good deeds is our duty as
Muslims and our responsibility to God. Besides,
we love our Homeland and want to see it peaceful, safe and prosperous.
Today we have 20 social organisations in different
regions of Ukraine. Our priorities are cultural and
educational projects and providing assistance for
people of Ukraine.

Today 'Alraid' matches its name (Ar. 'leading,

progressive') by being one of the largest Muslim
social unions in the country. This became possible with the zeal and commitment demonstrated by every member of our multiethnic
team.
Our aim is to unite the Ukrainian Ummah for good. We do not avoid problems even if they arent of the Muslims direct concern: we work for
the welfare of our country and
upgrade the living standards
for everybody including
Muslims.
Many people have a wrong
belief that 'Alraid' is some charity
fund, which is not quite right. Charity is, of course, one of most
important sphere of our work, we, however, place our stake on
cultural and educational projects. We see ourselves as a social
organisation representing Islam as it is, without extremities and
stereotypes and calling upon every Muslim to develop oneself,
aim at gaining knowledge and take an active part in the life of
Ukrainian society.

ost beloved to Allah are those who are most beneficial to other people', Prophet Muhammad once said.
We bring this hadith to life not only by our words
(i.e. booklets on overcoming castigate vice, lectures, roundtables
on topical issues), but by action as well. We take part in free donorship beneficiaries, do some community redevelopment and
take care of graveyards, reconstruct mosques, fundraise for the
poor and needy (victims of the floods, refugees, etc.)

dern mainstream culture moulds the youth into indifferent and unthinking consumers, and their health is poor because of the sedentary lifestyle. Lack of open-air sports games makes the city children unable to bear with

increase knowledge of the Muslim women.

he Associations Department for Information supports a range of web-sources

that serve to introduce our projects in
four languages (www.arraid.org), life of Ukrainian Muslims in three languages (islam.in.ua),
Ukrainian Halal industry (halal.org.ua), as well
as the teaching of Islam and life of Muslims
abroad (islam.com.ua) and the Holy Quran
(quran.org.ua).

intensifying cooperation and improving mutual
understanding between Ukraine and the Arab

schools of law, prophet Muhammad (peace and
blessings be upon him) and prominent Islamic
figures; we translate the works of recognised
theologists; print brochures and booklets on
relevant topics.

Project Sewing machines for needy families

e, the AUASO 'Alraid' team, are trying to

lend a helping hand to everyone in need
for support at the best of our ability.
More than 2100 orphans receive quarterly allowances. Needy families receive both target aid
('A Cow For A Low-Income Family' Project, wells
and water boreholes for settlements with no
access to fresh water, covering the medical aid
costs, school supplies for schoolchildren from
poor families, providing needy families with warm
blankets) and facilities to earn their living on their
own (sewing machines for mothers of large families, greenhouses for the repatriate families, free
dressmaking courses for women, free computer
courses, hairdressing courses, etc.)

We hold charity iftars during the month of Ramadan, and poor families are provided with full
grocery baskets for the whole month of fasting.

ssociation 'lraid' along with Religious Administration of

Muslims of Crimea and Religious Administration of Muslims
of Ukraine 'Umma' contributes to building, renovating and
reconstructing Mosques in the areas of Muslim compact settlement
in Crimea and Donbas. The project has been launched in early 1990ies. 120 Mosques in different settlements have been built, renovated
and reconstructed since then; another 2 are to be completed in 2014.
Courtesy of this initiative tens of thousands Muslims finally have an
opportunity to attend a Mosque in their home town or village.
