Dear friends,
The Alraid team has passed the
first strategic phase of work. Being
not easy, it was very important for
us in adopting a more organized
model of work. We are aware that
the forthcoming tasks are equally
important and require sincerity,
selflessness and strong brotherhood relations. We realize the
enormous responsibility we take
as regards to Muslims and the
Ukrainian society in general.
Today it can be said with confidence that Alraid
represents the highest social and cultural authority for the Muslim ummah of Ukraine. It could be
possible due to the zeal and selflessness shown by
each member in this hard effort.
Let me express deep gratitude to every active participant in the Alraid activities. I ask the Allmighty for a reward to the members of the Executive Committee, heads of departments, members
and activists of each organisation incorporated in
the All-Ukrainian Association of Social Organisations Alraid .

The All-Ukrainian Association of Social Organisations Alraid, created in 1997, is a first union
of Muslim NGOs in Ukraine now containing 20
of them in different regions of the country.

of Europe (FIOE), the Forum of European Muslim Youth and Student Organisations (FEMYSO),
the International Islamic Forum of Student

cultural centers and public organizations.
The core activities of the Association lie in conveying to Ukrainians of authentic and reliable information about Islam to Ukrainians, maintaining intercultural and interfaith dialogue, and enhancing the
education level of Ukrainian Muslims.

developing relations with adepts of other religions
and cultures on the basis of centuries-long Islamic
traditions and experience of coexistence and interactions between followers of Islam and non-Muslims.

Association members are actively involved in

meetings, round tables, conferences held in va
rious Ukrainian cities and devoted to interfaith
dialogue. Also, Islamic cultural centers of Kyiv,
Crimea and Kharkiv are frequently visited by representatives of other confessions.
Local organisations of Alraid have free Sunday
schools teaching Arabic and introducing Islamic
culture. Everyone can become a student, regardless
of religion, nationality and age.

The AUASO Alraid in cooperation with the

Center of Islamic Studies regularly organises
scientific colloquia and conferences with participation of leading Islamic researchers and
Orientalists, representatives of state admi
nistration offices and higher education institutions.
In Crimea scientific conferences, seminars and
round tables are held annually in cooperation, jointly with the Ministry for Education of
the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, leading
HEIs and the Crimean Division of the National
Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Ukraine.

Each year on the days of Ramadan,

AUASO Alraid in cooperation with Religious
Administration of Muslims of Crimea and
Religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine
Ummah, organizes competitions of the
Quran recitation that cover various age groups
and levels of knowledge of the Holy Book.
In 2010, Alraid contributed to organizing the
First International Quran Hafiz Competition,
held in the city of Simferopol. There were 34 competitors coming from the post-soviet area, aged
from 10 to 33.
The support of Alraid and the World
Association of Quran Studies resulted in productive work of the Higher School of Hafiz
under the Religious Administration of Muslims of Crimea. Students of the School
repeatedly represented Ukraine in international Quran memorising competitions in
Libia, Egypt, Kyrgystan, Saudi Arabia, United
Arab Emirates, Croatia and other countries.

Alraid has accomplished a series of projects

aiming to support Muslim women who want to
actively participate in social life. They started in
Crimea with launching the Professional womens
courses comprizing cooking, sewing, hairdres
sing, basic computer skills, which are held in respectively equipped class-rooms at the Islamic
Cultural Center of Simferopol. In four years 120
young ladies could master these demanded professions on a free of charge basis.
The Alraid Committee on Family & Women Affairs has revived the tradition of annual five-day
cultural and educative seminar for women. Also,
Muslim women are the target group for training
seminars on planning, communication rules, projecting and time management held twice a year.
The Association conducts family events in order
to support Muslim family and religious upbrin
ging children accordingly to religion. Seminars for
Ukrainian families with participation of teachers,
psychologists and healthcare professionals are
held annually in main cities of Ukraine.

To protect the rising generation from negative

inf luences, the Association has essentially diversified the work with youth, teenagers and
children. In time of summer holidays, Alraid
organisations arrange summer day-time camps
for children aged 7-16 in the Islamic cultural
centers of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Odesa and
Simferopol. Their programs include discussions
on religious and moral themes, classes, master
classes, educative excursions.
Also, AUASO Alraid organizes annual cultural and recreational camps for orphaned children within aid program for Ukrainian orphans.
Association arranges weekend trips, various
kinds of sports competitions, thematic lectures,
discussions and entertaining events for them
throughout the year.
Alraid provides conditions for youth activity
in various areas, ranging from actions of public
benefit (cleaning steads, parks and mosques) to
intellectual brain rings, round tables, dispute
clubs on important themes.

Association launched and sponsored dozens of
charity projects and many of them still give tangible results.

centers each year in time of Ramadan, and meat is
distributed to the poor on the eve of the sacrifice
holiday.
