The paper considers spiritual bonds of the following people and monasteries:
reverend Sergius of radonezh (the holy trinity-St. Sergius lavra), reverend
Savvatiy, herman and Zosima Solovetsky (the transfiguration of the Saviour
Solovetsky monastery on the Solovki islands), reverend Joseph Volotsky (the
Volokolamsk holy Dormition monastery). The author shows the continuity
of their spiritual aspirations and emphasizes that the church recognizes these
monasteries as the largest ones, being the spiritual and educational centers as well.

The article considers the history of the usage of the term in
antiquity and in the works of the Fathers of the church. The latter accomplished
a philosophical breakthrough which made it possible to overcome the
phenomenal limitation of the term which ontologically melted it with the
notion of individual substance. The identification of the terms and

period rarely attracted researchers attention. meanwhile, the activities of
the diocesan bishops deserve this attention and comprehension. among the
Southern russian hierarchs the first place must certainly be given to Saint
cyril of turov. The author, within the framework of the article, attempts to
consider his work in the context of the events of those days and mores of the
russian church hierarchy in the middle and second part of the 12th century.

The article deals with the issue of the biblical genealogies of the russian
people debated in the historical writings from the 16th till the 18th centuries.
The key biblical characters that were recognized as the ancestors of the
russians had been revealed on the basis of the russian, Polish, ukrainian and
Western European written sources. The article also traces the changing of the
representation of biblical genealogies during the 16th18th centuries as well as
the historians argumentation.

tYPoloGY aNd attribUtioN
The article examines those subject center-stamps which were embossed
on the ukrainian leather bindings of the manuscripts and early printed books
of the 16th to the 18th centuries. The author considers the basic types of the
subject center-stamps, their appearance on the ukrainian leather bindings,
their most typical plots and the history of their study in ukraine. The article
draws attention to the differences between the iconography of the ukrainian
and the russian binding subject center-stamps and to their role in determining chronological and territorial boundaries of separate bindings.

The paper attempts to determine the theoretical basis of working with
young people in the catholic church in germany. The author gives definitions of the terms youth and youth culture, traces the development of the
fundamental attitude to young people in the catholic church documents and
compares it with the situation in the russian orthodox church. according
to the author, in the modern world youth is not an age-related but a cultural category, which implies certain ideological orientations. This involves
very special pastoral problems and their solution should be sought taking into
consideration the errors and the success of the catholic church in germany.

The publication offers the russian translation of the two dubious
sermons from the theological heritage of St. Proclus of constantinople, i. e.,
for the Easter (cPg 6664) and on the Pentecost (cPg 6665), which were
included by b. marx in the appendix to his Procliana. brief comments are
provided to these writings. The first sermon is compared with another one
Proclus sermon for the Easter, rather close to it, which was edited by migne
(Pg 65, 800805) (cPg 5814). The russian renderindg of the second sermon
is also given in the appendix.

In the publication are presented letters of the professors of the kiev ecclesiastical academy the archbishop Vasily (bogdashevsky) and the archpriest
alexander glagolev, the son of the last alexey glagolev and the priest
anatoly Zhurakovsky to the former professor of the same academy a. a. Dmitrievsky. The letters cover the period from 1908 to 1926, but the most part of
them belongs to 1926. In the 1908 letter from the high priest a. glagolev are
presented data on the internal life of the kiev academy and the relations of the
members of the corporation during the difficult period of the russian history
after the revolution 19051907; in archbishop Vasilys letters of 1915 the
destiny of the kiev ecclesiastical academy and of its corporation in the years
of the First World War are described; the 1926 letters of all the authors are
connected with a. a. Dmitrievskys visit to kiev during the summer of this
year and mention many events and problems of that time, such as: the hope
for a revival of the theological education, the destruction of parishional life, an
renovationism and liturgical innovations entered by it. The published letters
are stored in the archival fund of a. a. Dmitrievsky in the Department of
manuscripts of the National library of russia.
