From the Epistle of Apostle
Paul to Ephesians (4:1-6).
Brethren, I, the prisoner of the Lord,
beseech you to walk worthy of the
calling with which you were called,
with all lowliness and gentleness,
with longsuffering, bearing with one
another in love, endeavoring to keep
the unity of the Spirit in the bond of
peace. There is one body and one
Spirit, just as you were called in one
hope of your calling; one Lord, one
faith, one baptism; one God and Fa-
ther of all, who is above all, and
through all, and in you all.
From the Epistle of Apostle
Paul to Corinthians
(1 Cor. 12:27-13:8).
Brethren, you are the body of Christ,
and members individually. And God
has appointed these in the church:
first apostles, second prophets, third
teachers, after that miracles, then
gifts of healings, helps, administra-
tions, varieties of tongues. Are all
apostles? Are all prophets? Are all
teachers? Are all workers of mira-
cles? Do all have gifts of healings?
Do all speak with tongues? Do all
interpret? But earnestly desire the
best gifts. And yet I show you a
more excellent way. Though I speak
with the tongues of men and of
angels, but have not love, I
have become sounding brass or
a clanging cymbal. And though
I have the gift of prophecy,
and understand all mysteries and all

Братие, вы - тело Христово, а по-
рознь - члены. И иных Бог поста-
вил в Церкви, во-первых, Апосто-
лами, во-вторых, пророками, в-
третьих, учителями; далее, иным
дал силы чудодейственные, также
дары исцелений, вспоможения,
управления, разные языки. Все ли
Апостолы? Все ли пророки? Все
ли учители? Все ли чудотворцы?
Все ли имеют дары исцелений?
Все ли говорят языками? Все ли
истолкователи? Ревнуйте о дарах
больших, и я покажу вам путь еще
превосходнейший. Если я говорю
языками человеческими и ангель-
скими, а любви не имею, то я -
медь звенящая или кимвал звуча-
щий. Если имею дар пророчества,
и знаю все тайны, и имею всякое

St. Mathew (10:1-8).
At that time, when Jesus had called
His twelve disciples to Him, He gave
them power over unclean spirits, to
cast them out, and to heal all kinds of
sickness and all kinds of disease.
Now the names of the twelve apos-
tles are these: first, Simon, who is
called Peter, and Andrew his brother;
James the son of Zebedee, and John
his brother; Philip and Bartholomew;
Thomas and Matthew the tax collec-
tor; James the son of Alphaeus, and
Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thad-
daeus; Simon the Cananite, and Ju-
das Iscariot, who also betrayed Him.
These twelve Jesus sent out and
commanded them, saying: “Do not
go into the way of the Gentiles, and
do not enter a city of the Samaritans.
But go rather to the lost sheep of the
house of Israel. And as you go,
preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of
heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick,
cleanse the lepers, raise the dead,
cast out demons. Freely you have
received, freely give.

ствование (10:1-8).
Во время оно, призвав двенадцать
учеников Своих, Христос дал им
власть над нечистыми духами,
чтобы изгонять их и врачевать
всякую болезнь и всякую немощь.
Двенадцати же Апостолов имена
суть сии: первый Симон, называе-
мый Петром, и Андрей, брат его,
Иаков Зеведеев и Иоанн, брат его,
Филипп и Варфоломей, Фома и
Матфей мытарь, Иаков Алфеев и
Леввей, прозванный Фаддеем, Си-
мон Кананит и Иуда Искариот,
который и предал Его. Сих двена-
дцать послал Иисус, и заповедал
им, говоря: на путь к язычникам
не ходите, и в город Самарянский
не входите; а идите наипаче к по-
гибшим овцам дома Израилева;
ходя же, проповедуйте, что при-
близилось Царство Небесное;
больных исцеляйте, прокаженных
очищайте, мертвых воскрешайте,
бесов изгоняйте; даром получили,
даром давайте.

knowledge, and though I have all
faith, so that I could remove moun-
tains, but have not love, I am noth-
ing. And though I bestow all my
goods to feed the poor, and though I
give my body to be burned, but have
not love, it profits me nothing. Love
suffers long and is kind; love does
not envy; love does not parade itself,
is not puffed up; does not behave
rudely, does not seek its own, is not
provoked, thinks no evil; does not
rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the
truth; bears all things, believes all
things, hopes all things, endures all
things. Love never fails. But whether
there are prophecies, they will fail;
whether there are tongues, they will
cease; whether there is knowledge, it
will vanish away.
From the Gospel according to
St. Luke (8:26-39).
At that time, they sailed to the coun-
try of the Gadarenes, which is oppo-
site Galilee. And when Jesus stepped
out on the land, there met Him a cer-
tain man from the city who had de-
mons for a long time. And he wore
no clothes, nor did he live in a house
but in the tombs. When he saw Jesus,
he cried out, fell down before Him,
and with a loud voice said, “What
have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of
the Most High God? I beg You, do
not torment me!” For He had com-
manded the unclean spirit to come
out of the man. For it had often
seized him, and he was kept un-
der guard, bound with chains and

переносит. Любовь никогда не пе-
рестает, хотя и пророчества пре-
кратятся, и языки умолкнут, и зна-
ние упразднится.
От Луки Святое Благовест-
вование (8:26-39).
Во время оно, приплыли в страну
Гадаринскую, лежащую против
Галилеи. Когда же вышел Иисус
на берег, встретил Его один чело-
век из города, одержимый бесами
с давнего времени, и в одежду не
одевавшийся, и живший не в доме,
а в гробах. Он, увидев Иисуса,
вскричал, пал пред Ним и громким
голосом сказал: что Тебе до меня,
Иисус, Сын Бога Всевышнего?
умоляю Тебя, не мучь меня.
Ибо Иисус повелел нечистому
духу выйти из сего человека,
потому что он долгое время му-
чил его, так что его связывали
цепями и узами, сберегая его;

was driven by the demon into the
wilderness. Jesus asked him, saying,
“What is your name?” And he said,
“Legion,” because many demons had
entered him. And they begged Him
that He would not command them to
go out into the abyss. Now a herd of
many swine was feeding there on the
mountain. So they begged Him that
He would permit them to enter them.
And He permitted them. Then the
demons went out of the man and en-
tered the swine, and the herd ran vio-
lently down the steep place into the
lake and drowned. When those who
fed them saw what had happened,
they fled and told it in the city and in
the country. Then they went out to
see what had happened, and came to
Jesus, and found the man from
whom the demons had departed, sit-
ting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and
in his right mind. And they were
afraid. They also who had seen it
told them by what means he who had
been demon-possessed was healed.
Then the whole multitude of the sur-
rounding region of the Gadarenes
asked Him to depart from them, for
they were seized with great fear. And
He got into the boat and returned.
Now the man from whom the de-
mons had departed begged Him that
he might be with Him. But Jesus sent
him away, saying, “Return to your
own house, and tell what great things
God has done for you.” And he went
his way and proclaimed throughout
the whole city what great things Je-
sus had done for him.
но он разрывал узы и был гоним
бесом в пустыни. Иисус спросил
его: как тебе имя? Он сказал: леги-
он, - потому что много бесов во-
шло в него. И они просили Иису-
са, чтобы не повелел им идти в
бездну. Тут же на горе паслось
большое стадо свиней; и бесы про-
сили Его, чтобы позволил им вой-
ти в них. Он позволил им. Бесы,
выйдя из человека, вошли в сви-
ней, и бросилось стадо с крутизны
в озеро и потонуло. Пастухи, видя
происшедшее, побежали и расска-
зали в городе и в селениях. И вы-
шли видеть происшедшее; и, при-
дя к Иисусу, нашли человека, из
которого вышли бесы, сидящего у
ног Иисуса, одетого и в здравом
уме; и ужаснулись. Видевшие же
рассказали им, как исцелился бес-
новавшийся. И просил Его весь
народ Гадаринской окрестности
удалиться от них, потому что они
объяты были великим страхом. Он
вошел в лодку и возвратился. Че-
ловек же, из которого вышли бе-
сы, просил Его, чтобы быть с Ним.
Но Иисус отпустил его, сказав:
возвратись в дом твой и расскажи,
что сотворил тебе Бог. Он пошел и
проповедывал по всему городу,
что сотворил ему Иисус.
