STRONG POSITIONS OF THE TEXT AS A WAY OF “PHILOSOPHY OF LIFE” IN THE NOVEL OF A. PUSHKIN
“EUGENE ONEGIN”
ORCID: 0000-0002-9937-4357
The author of the article considers strong positions of the text as a functional system corresponding to A.
Pushkin’s teleology: “I have already thought about the form of the plan / And I will call a hero as ...”. The
frame of the title complex (title, dedication), epigraphy, the beginning and end of the novel in the verses
“Eugene Onegin” - that is, the complex of strong positions of the text is interpreted as a single
lyophilosophical construct reflecting the relativism of the author’s image, his views on the world in the
range from the “holiday of life” until the debriefing. It is proved that the linear sequence of quotes
demonstrates an artistic understanding of events as the formation of a "philosophy of life." The symbolic
coverage examines the relationship of the names of the heroes and their place in the ideological content
of the novel. The individual fates of the heroes in the light of each other's reflections (in contrast and
similarity) and stylistic proteism (from irony to pathos) acquire universal validity. Such micro-topics as
“Tatyana's Letter”, “Tatyana’s Dream”, “Onegin and Lensky’s duel”, sketches of the seasons, became the
“golden fund” of the artistic thought of Russian culture. The focus of the article is on archaic matrices,
which give the historical reality depicted in the novel a vitalistic perspective. The author’s intention is
traced from “North” to “South” as a vector of healing and saving the national culture. The depth of the
Pushkin logo is comprehended in this article through the flow of timeless archaic into the philosophies of
the Eternal East, represented by quotation of the Persian humanist poet “winged” Saadi. The finale of
the work is interpreted as the death of a momentary egoistic principle in the person of Onegin, and at
the same time – the creative aspiration of the author, based on reconciliation with life as Eternity.
Keywords: text; historical reality; A.S.Pushkin; "Eugene Onegin"; epigraph; poetics of the text.
