Energy supply of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation from the point of
view of small nuclear power development
This article will focus on the problems of energy supply in the Arctic and ways to
solve them. In particular, the participants will discuss the advantages and prospects
of developing nuclear power supply to Russian industrial facilities in this region. In
addition, the authors address the current difficulties that stand in the way of the
development of the nuclear industry in the Arctic and methods to overcome these
difficulties. The authors also give a brief but succinct overview of some of the current
Russian Arctic projects aimed at solving the problem of energy availability not only
in mining areas, but also in other areas of important economic importance.
The relevance of this article is extremely high, which is confirmed, first, by the high
level of importance of the Arctic region in the field of politics, transport, and
industry; second, by the interest of many corporations and countries in Russian
developments in the field of small nuclear power.
