Sir Malcolm Henry Arnold CBE (21 October 1921 – 23 September 2006) was
an English composer. His works feature music in many genres, including a
cycle of nine symphonies, numerous concertos, concert works, chamber
music, choral music and music for brass band and wind band. His style is tonal
and rejoices in lively rhythms, brilliant orchestration, and an unabashed
tunefulness. Edward Alexander MacDowell (December 18, 1860[1] – January
23, 1908) was an American composer and pianist of the late Romantic period.
He was best known for his second piano concerto and his piano suites
Woodland Sketches, Sea Pieces and New England Idylls. Woodland Sketches
includes his most popular short piece, "To a Wild Rose".
