The experience gained by previous generations is passed on to descendants and allows them

to strengthen the spiritual connection between them. The rich experience, knowledge and
customs of the ancestors make the family happy. In it, from an early age, children learn to
respect their elders, understand the value of family traditions, the learn how to resolve prob-
lems and cope with an adversity.
As a rule, many customs have deep historical roots and in Russia it is noticeable as nowhere
else. There are many peoples and traditions in our country, and despite the technological ca-
pabilities of the modern world, we carefully preserve the traditions of our ancestors. Social
mores greatly influence the upbringing of children in Russia. Namely, the traditional family
(that is nuclear family, dad, mom and children, and in no other way), the man is the head of
the family (which does not prevent the spouses from living on equal rights in love and con-
sent). The number of children (usually desired) depends only on the parents, and Russia is
famous for its large families. Children always look up to their parents. In Russia blood is
always thicker than water.
In this country, the traditions and culture of a large number of peoples are so intertwined
that there can be no question of any common traditions. However, everything is not so sim-
ple - in the USA, not only every state, but also a city or district has its own unbreakable tra-
ditions. Spouses are two independent entities. Men and women do not have the same roles
as in Russia. Many children, who have already grew up, live separately and have their own
life and the don’t have any confines. The basic concepts in the upbringing of the younger
generation of Americans are love for the motherland, respect for elders, love for parents and
respect for others’ boundaries. Quite often, in the US traditions do not allow marriage to
collapse.
In the UK people are reserved, pragmatic, prim and true to traditions. On the 1st plan - fi-
nance. Children are born only after the spouses have achieved a certain position. One of the
obligatory traditions is family dinners and tea parties. The research found that 96% of
Britons believe that strong family values prepare children for a happy and successful life.
For British people teaching good manners is a crucial thing. About 76% of parents teaches
their children table manners. And respecting your elders also is very important for them. So
I think that we have smth in common with British people.
