EXAMPLE
Known Quantities:
𝐼𝑆= 5A; 𝐼1= 2A; 𝐼2= −3A; 𝐼3= 1.5A
Find: 𝐼0 and 𝐼4
At Node a:
𝐼0+ 𝐼1 + 𝐼2 = 0
𝐼0+ 2 − 3 = 0
𝐼0 = 1A
At Node b:
𝐼𝑆 − 𝐼3 − 𝐼4 = 0
5 − 1.5 − 𝐼4 = 0
𝐼4 = 3.5A
Note that the current from the battery is defined in a direction opposite to that of
the other two currents (toward the node instead of away from the node). Thus, in
applying KCL, we have used opposite signs for the first and the latter two currents.
Обратите внимание, что ток от батареи определяется в направлении, противоположном направлению двух других токов (к узлу, а не от него). Таким образом, при применении
KCL мы использовали противоположные знаки для первого и двух последних токов.
At the reference node: If we use the same convention (positive value for currents
entering the node and negative value for currents exiting the node), we obtain the
following equations:
В контрольном узле: если мы используем то же соглашение (положительное значение для токов, входящих в узел, и отрицательное значение для токов, выходящих из узла), мы
получаем следующие уравнения:
-𝐼𝑆 + 𝐼3 + 𝐼4 = 0
−5 + 1.5 + 𝐼4= 0
𝐼4= 3.5A
For node a
𝐼1= 𝐼0+ 𝐼1+ 𝐼2= -1A
where, -1A= 𝐼4
0.5A+ 𝐼1+2A
𝐼1=2A-0.5A
𝐼1=-1.5A
NOW,Node b,
𝐼𝑆 − 𝐼3 − 𝐼4=0
𝐼𝑆-7A-( -1A)
𝐼𝑆-7A-1A
𝐼𝑆=7A-1A
𝐼𝑆=6A
Task 2. Use KVL to determine the unknown voltages 𝑉1 and 𝑉4 in the circuit of
EXAMPLE
Do an exercise using an EXAMPLE
Calculate 𝑉1 using the outer loop (around the outside perimeter of the circuit). Write
a solution process.
Рассчитайтк V 1, используя внешний цикл (по внешнему периметру схемы). Напишите процесс решения.
Task 3. Using the diagram below, compute the power supplied to the electric heater
using electrical power formulas.
Solution,
p=v2/R
Where v=120v
R=12Ω
p=(120)2/12Ω
14400/12Ω
P= 1200Ω
R=100 Ω
From formula,
(I)2=P/R
I=√( P/ R )
I=√ (169W /100 Ω)
I=√ (1.69 A^2)
I=1.3A
Task 5. A 3 Ω resistor dissipates 243 W. What is the voltage across it?
ACCORDING TO OHMS LAW,
V=I*R
Where r= 3 Ω
I= 243w
From power formula,
P = I^2 * R
I =√( P/ R )
= √( 243 /3 )
= √(81 A^2)
I= 9A
PUT THE VALUE IN OHMS LAW
V=I*R
V=9A*3Ω
V=27A
Task 6. Using the diagram below, compute the power to each resistor in Figure
p=(v1)2/R1
R1 = 20 Ω
v1=10v
P = (10^2) / 20
P = 100 / 20
p1=5w
then ,
R2=100 Ω
V2=50V
p=(v2)2/R2
=(50)2/100
= 2500/100
P2=25W
ENERGY=power*time
100w =0.1kw
= 0.1*12hour =1.2kwh
=converte the time to hour
time= 45 min/60 m/h= 0.75hour
energy= heat*hour
1.5kw*0.75hour= 1.125kwh
Total energ= energy of lamp+energy of heater
= 1.2kwh+1.125kwh
= 2.325kwh answer
