1 Usage and Scope of Application

Polycelain housed metal oxide surge arresters (CMOA) for substation 1and
distribution are protective apparatus used to protect the transmission and
distribution equipments from damage of in atmospheric and switching overvoltages.

3 Operation conditions
3.1 Ambient temperature: -40+40.
3.2 Power frequency not more than 62 Hz, not less than 48 Hz.
3.3 Altitude (above sea level): not more than 2000m.
3.4 Max. Wind velocity: not more than 35m/s.
3.5 Earthquake intensity: areas below 7 degree.

3.6 Power frequency voltage applied between terminals of surge arrester shall
not exceed continuous operating voltage of surge arrester.

CMOA mainly consists of metal oxide resistors, silicon rubber housing

and cap, etc.
The core component of CMOA is nonlinear metal oxide resistors with
excellent volt-ampere characteristics. When atmosphere and switching overvoltage occurs, the resistance of the block is very small to limit the residual
voltage within the permissible range and absorb the energy of over voltage, thus
protecting power equipment and capacitor bank. Whereas, the piece being highl
resistance plays the function of insulation from power system by only allowing
small current to pass.
The product has the advantages of excellent protection, resistant to
pollution, easy to install and long life and lightweight.

6.2 Check the outline of CMOA after unpacking. If pack is torn, please dont
use.
6.3 Measure the U1mA d.c and the leakage current under 0.75 U1mA d.c.
The U1mA d.c should fall within the requirements given in Table 1. The leakage
current under 0.75 U1mA d.c shoud be not more than 50A.
7 Acceptance test

Test shall be performed in according with the requirements for IEC60099-4

or with mutual technical agreement.

8 Operation and Maintenance
8.1 Preventive test including measurement of voltage at 1 mA d.c (U1mA d.c),
leakage current at 0.75 U1mA d.c and insulating resistance is needed before
operation.

8.2 The period of preventive test is 5 years.
8.3 No need to clear in operation.
9 Notice
9.1 No collision in packing, storing, delivering, unpacking and installing
processes. If collision was happened, please check inside carefully to affirm no
damage. Then install and use after preventive test.
9.2 Keep the product clear, dry, free from corrosive gas and liquid before use,
please.
9.3 To guarantee the performance, please dont unpack by yourself.
9.4 The product is guaranteed for two years from delivery date under the correct
use.

11.1 Products name, model, code, system normal voltage, quantity, delivery
date, consignee, destination etc. of products.
11.2 Other auxiliaries.
11.3 Operation conditions such as ambient temperature, altitude (plateau type
can be adopted if altitude is more than 1000m), Min creepage distance site
pollution degree, anti-seismic demands (horizontal acceleration and intensity),
special demands of abnormal operation conditions (over humidly etc.). Order
accord with mutual agreement is allowed.
