Short adjectives Короткие прилагательные (состоящие не больше чем из 2ух

слогов)

1-syllable adjectives (1 слог) old, fast

2-syllable adjectives ending in -y (2 слога и заканчивается на у) happy, easy

RULE: add "-est" ДОБАВЛЯЕМ ОКОНЧАНИЕ -EST old → the oldest

Variation: if the adjective ends in -e, just add -st (если late → the latest
заканчивается на -е, просто добавляем -st)

Variation: if the adjective ends in consonant, vowel, consonant, big → the biggest
double the last consonant (если заканчивается на гласную
согласную, согласная удваивается)

Variation: if the adjective ends in -y, change the y to i (Если happy → the happies

заканчивается на -у, то меняем у на i +est) t

Long adjectives длинные прилагательные

2-syllable adjectives not ending in -y modern, pleasant

2 слога не заканчивается на -у

all adjectives of 3 or more syllables expensive, intellectual

RULE: use "most" modern → the most modern

expensive → the most expensive

Exception: The following adjectives have irregular forms:

 good → the best

 bad → the worst
 far → the furthest
