Capture the Flag


Materials: Flag (X2)
Instruction/Rules: Start by splitting the class into two teams one team will start
on one side of the space with a flag. While the other team does the same. There
will be a middle line that once the opposing team crosses, they are at risk of
being tagged. Once a player is tagged the must stay in place. If a teammate gets
across, they may unfreeze other teammates or try capturing the flag.

Line Tag
Materials: NONE
Instruction/Rules: All students will run around the space on a line. If they step off the line
the are out and need to start doing a small activity. There will be a person(s) that tag
students. Once that student is out, they are a roadblock for that line and must start doing a
small activity to stay active. Once there are 5 or so students that did not get tagged the
boundaries will be shrunk to make sure the game does not go to long.

Chicken Over the Hill


Materials: NONE
Instruction/Rules: The class will all find a partner. One partner will be in the inside circle
and the other on the outside circle. The two circles will move in different directions. Once
the instructor says a movement you and the partner need to meet and accomplish that. The
last pair to complete the movement is out and will go to the side. Once on the side they will
be able to cheer their class on and do a small active movement. The game comes to an end
when there are two partners left.

Color Tag
Material: NONE

Instruction/Rules: A student(s) will start in the middle of the space. While the class starts
at one end of the boundaries. Once the student in the center calls a color student(s) wearing
that color will try running across the space without being tagged. If you are tagged, you
will then stay in the center of the gym and help tag people.

Red Light Green Light


Materials: NONE
Instruction/Rules: A student(s) will start on the farthest end of the space.
While everyone else will be on the other end of the space. The student(s) that
are at the farthest end will call the light color and the students from the other
end will try getting to them. But without being caught moving from the caller.
Once someone has given the called a high fiver the game is over.

Sharks and Minos


Materials: NONE
Instruction/Rules: There will be a student(s) that start in the middle of the space. While all
of the other students will be on one side of the boundaries. The sharks in the middle will
say “Fishy Fishy come out and play” and the whole group will run across the space trying
not to get tagged. The game is over once everyone is a shark.

Bendy Bodies
Materials: NONE
Instruction/Rules: The instructor will call out a shape, letter, number, or object for the
students to make with their bodies!

Fruit Salad Mix Up


Materials: NONE
Instruction/Rules: All of the students will stand in a circle. There will be only one student
in the middle. The person in the middle will call out something that applies to 2 people.
Those 2 will need to move from their seat to another. IF they can’t find a seat they are the
next caller. If the caller in the middle yells “Fruit Salad Mix Up” then everyone gets up
from their chair to find a new one. Students can no just move to the seat right next to them.
This game will need to be stopped by the instructor.

4 Square
Materials: Ball
Instruction/Rules: The game will be played in a space broke into 4 squares. The squares
are numbered from 1-4 with a player in each square. The ball will be served from the
highest ranked square to the lowest. The ball must bounce in your
square prior to you hitting it. Then if it goes out on that person they are
out. They game continues eliminating people letting in new players.
Once all the players have been through and the last two are in the
squares, they will play against each other.

Ultimate Football
Materials: Ball
Instruction/Rules: Have the students split into two. One on each side of the space indicating
there scoring area. A team will start with the ball. When you have the ball, you can’t move.
If you don’t have the ball, you have to try to get open to catch the ball. If you catch the ball
in the scoring area your team gets a point. On your way to the scoring area if you drop the
ball, it then is the other team’s ball at that spot. The game can go to a certain number or be
stopped by the instructor after a period of time.

Rock – Paper – Scissors


Materials: NONE
Instruction/Rules: The whole class will be split into two. Half of the class will be on one side
of the space while half of the class will be on the opposite side. Each side will decide as a
group as to what object they will use. Once both sides have decided they run toward each
other. At the center of the space, they will play rock paper scissors. The team that trumps
the other will try tagging as many people as they can till they get back to their side. The
game is done once everyone is all on the same team.

What Time Is
It Mr. Fox

Materials: NONE
Instruction/Rules: All students will start on one side of the space. One student will be
chosen and be on the other end. Most of the group will yell what time is it Mr. Fox. The fox
will reply with their back toward the group. The students will then take that many steps.
Once the fox yells lunch time the group will try and run back to their side. IF they get
tagged then they are the fox for the next round. This game would be ended based on time
from the instructor.

Aces and Exercises


Materials: Deck of Cards, List of Exercises
Instruction/Rules: Each student can have a turn dragging a
card from the deck. The number or value on the card will
be the number of repetitions they will do. Aces are 10 and
face cards are 15. The student would then choose an
exercise from the list. This can be done through only a few
students based on time or can be done till the whole class
gets a turn.

Find Your Friends


Materials: NONE
Instruction/Rules: You will have all the students spin themselves around and then close
their eyes. The instructor will ensure that not all the students are in the same area. Once
the instructor says go the students will carefully walk around trying to find all their
classmates with their eyes closed. Once they find a classmate, they will link arms until the
whole class is found.

Statue Freeze
Materials: NONE

Instruction/Rules: One student will state a pose/statue to do. They will pick the person that
did it best. That student will then have a turn to state a pose/statue. This will continue to
ensure all students get a turn.

Go Noodle
Materials: NONE
Instruction/Rules: This is a website that you can choose an activity from. There are videos
that students can follow to get some energy out.

Simon Says
Materials: NONE
Instruction/Rules: One student will be in front of the class stating what the class should do.
They will state, “Simon Says …” and if they don’t say that and do the movement they are
out. If the student is out, they will go to the side and do side lunges.

Macarena
Materials: NONE
Instruction/Rules: Play some music and then follow these steps. Bringing one arm at a time
out and palms facing down. Then turn your palms up on both hands on at a time. Then
place your right hand on your left short and vice versa. Then place your hand on your ear
on both sides one at a time. Then bring your hands down to your hips across your body one
at a time. Then place your hands on the opposite hip they were on one at a time. Then move
your hips in a circle 3 times. Then turn your body 90 degrees. Then clap your hands and
start at the beginning.

Cupid Shuffle
Materials: Music

Instruction/Rules: Take 4 steps to the right then back to the left. Then you will tap/kick
your feet out each side 4 times. Then you will turn your body 90 degrees. You will repeat
these steps until you are facing the direction you started.

Heads Up 7-Up
Materials:
Instruction/Rules: Select a few kids to be the pickers first. Have all the other students sit
down with their eyes closed and one hand placed in a fist on their desk. If one of the pickers
comes and taps your thumb you will place your thumb up. If they don’t tap you hand keep
it in a first until they say heads up 7 – up. Once everyone has there head up the students
with there thumb up will stand and try to guess who tapped their finger. If they guess right,
they will take that person’s spot. If not, they will still place their head down and hand out.

Freeze Dance
Materials: Music
Instruction/Rules: You will play music as your students dance
around the room. You will then stop the music and the
students will freeze in what ever movement they are doing. If
they are caught moving the are out. Once out they will go to
the side cheering on their classmates while also doing a small
movement activity.

Tic – Tac – Toe


Materials: Tape, Blue Markers (X8), Red Markers (X8)
Instructions/Rules: The students will find a partner to play human tic – tac – toe. The
students will have tape in the space for the game. Each student will have 8 of the same
items to use as markers on the board. The students will make a move with their body and
once they are done their partner will get a turn. Once you leave a space leave a marker.

Charades
Materials: NONE
Instructions/Rules: A group of students will think of something to act out to the class. The
group acting may not use their voices. The students will continue to guess for a minute until
they are told. Then the next set of students will go. Ensuring that all the students had an
opportunity.

Rock – Paper – Scissors


Materials: NONE
Instructions/Rules: Students will go around the room playing this game with 5 different
people. They will say “Rock Paper Scissor Shoot” and then display their object they
choose. Rock beats scissors and scissors beats paper and paper beats rock.

Silent Ball
Materials: Ball
Instructions/Rules: The students will stand around the room in silence. Someone will start
with the ball and throw it to another classmate. If you drop the ball or don’t catch the ball,
you are out.

Rebus Puzzles
Materials: Puzzle
Instruction/Rules: This is a puzzle that they whole
class can try and complete together. They will have
illustrated pictures, letters, numbers, or words to help
depict a saying or word.

Jumping Jacks
Materials: NONE
Instruction/Rules: The students will need to complete 30 jumping
jacks and then return to the task at hand. Doing a jumping jack
means that the student jumps there feet apart and arms up at the
same time.

Crab Walk
Materials: NONE
Instructions/Rules: Students will sit on there butt. They will then place their legs out and
bent from them. They will then place their hands behind them. They will lift their butt off
the ground and start moving their hands and legs to walk like a crab. The instructor can
set the duration of time.

Skip
Materials: NONE
Instructions/Rules: Students will pull one knee as high as they can and then jump. They
will continue to do this alternating their knees. The duration of this activity can be set by
the instructor.

Spelling Around the Room


Materials: Index Cards
Instructions/Rules: There will be spelling words around the room in a variety of locations.
The students will have a piece of paper at their desk. They will keep that paper at their
desk. They will walk from their paper to a word and back to the paper to write it down.
They will repeat that until they have all the words on their paper.

Vocab Catch
Materials: Ball
Instructions/Rules: Have a ball with words all over it. When the student catches the ball,
the instructor will ask what is under a specific finger. They student will read the word and
then give the definition and use it in a sentence. This activity can be done till all the words
have been done or until the time you have is over.

Reading Spy’s
Materials: Book

Instructions/Rules: While the instructor is reading a story the students have a word(s) to
listen for. Once the students have heard that word they are to jump. Then sit back down to
listen for more.

Skip Counting
Materials: Index Cards
Instructions/Rules: The instructor will have sets of numbers that are in a pattern or skip
counting those numbers. The instructor will hand out a card to each student. The students
need to place themselves in order. Then determine the rule used to make that sequence of
numbers. Once that is done the students will skip around the room for the pattern or
sequence found in the sequence.

Human Shake
Materials: NONE
Instructions/Rules: This lesson is about learning about the body. When you are introducing
the lesson, you will ask students to shake the body part awake. Once awake the students
will then get into small groups and discuss what it can do. Then they will need to decide
how to take care of it. Once all of that is complete the students will then listen to other
groups. About their ideas they had on that body part. This can continue will all body parts!

Cat Pose
How TO: Students will place their hands and knees on
the floor. They will then pull their belly/back up trying
to reach the sky. While pulling their head in as well.

Cow Pose

How TO: Students will place their hands and knees on the floor. Then they will push their
back/belly are far to the ground as possible pushing there head up.

Child’s Pose
How TO: Students will place their feet touching on the ground. They will then spread their
knees the make space for the belly to lay in the middle. The students should place their
hands straight out in front of them along with placing their head on the floor.

Chair Pose
How TO: Students will be standing on both feet. They will then bend their knees
and lower their butt. They can place their hands in front of the straight out or hold
each other. The arms will be based on comfort for the students.

Downward Facing Dog


How TO: Students will have both hands and feet on the ground.
They will try to make a tent with their bodies having their head look at
their feet.

Dead Man Pose


How TO: Students will lay STILL on there back with their hands by their side.

Lunge Pose
How TO: Students will have one foot in between their hands and the other foot extended
straight back.

Warrior 2 Pose
How TO: Students legs will be in a lung position with their arms
out in a T shape.

Cobra Pose
How TO: Students will lay face down on the ground. They will then use their arms to push
them selves up. Moving their upper body slowly up as well.

Standing Forward Bend


How TO: Students will place their feet next to each other. They will then
bend their body at their hips and use their arms to grab their calves.

Dragon/Belly Breathing
Materials: NONE
Instructions/Rules: Students will sit up straight. Then breath in all the way. Stick your
tongue our and the breath out like a dragon! When belly breathing students should lay
down with their head supported and knees bent. Then placing a hand on their belly and
one on their chest. Ask them to breath in seeing their belly get bigger and then breath out
seeing it get smaller.

5 Senses Card
Materials: Card (X5)
Instructions/Rules: Students will be provided with a card that guides them to think
intentionally about their senses. The card will ask to list 5 thing you can see, 4 things you
can feel, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell, 1 thing you can taste. Finishing and
starting with 5 belly breaths.

Guided Meditation
Materials: NONE
Instructions/Rules: Students will be asked to sit in a comfortable spot. The educator will
then choose a recorded meditation or guide the class. Setting intentions for the day, letting
negative feelings out and positive ones in, and leaving home stuff for home.

Scavenger Hunt
Materials: Scavenger Hunt Paper
Instructions/Rules: This activity will ask students to find specific textured items, specific
height items, things that make different level of sounds, and even asking them to do
something. The prompted activities will have to students become more aware of what’s
around them.

Affirmation Cards
Materials: Cards (X10)
Instructions/Rules: These cards will state things that the
students will repeat. Helping the students to create a positive
self-image. Stating they believe in themselves, they embrace
challenges, they are kind, and many more things.

Tug of War
Materials: Rope, Middle Line Identification
Instruction/Rules: The instructor will place a rope with the middle well indicated on the
ground. The class will them be split into teams to play this game. Half of the class (number
dependent on rope size) will pull the rope their way. While the other team does the same
thing with the rope in their direction. Once the middle of the rope or the first person
crosses the middle line that team losses.

Three-Legged Race
Materials: Ropes
Instruction/Rules: The class will all find a partner to
participate with. They will then tie their legs together at the
ankle with the rope. Once all students have that completed
have them stand in the same line. Once you say go the students
will try being the first one to farthest boundary and back.

Obstacle Courses
Materials: Cones, Hula Hoops, Jump Ropes, Balls, and any other items you want
Instruction/Rules: The instructor will set up different things that students will do while
racing another person. Once they have completed the course the next person in their team
will go through. This will repeat until all of both teams had gone through the course. The
team that finishes first wins. The instructor can choose what the students do, what order,
and how long at each piece.

Human Knot

Materials: Humans!
Instruction/Rules: Have all students get in a circle and have
the hold two different people’s hands that are not
standing by them. The students are then very tied up
and need to find a way to get themselves in a circle
without arms all over the middle.

Butt Volleyball
Materials: Ball
Instructions/Rules: Groups can be as big or as small but six
students is a good number. The students will sit 3 in a row and
3 behind facing a row of 3 in front and 3 behind. The ball will
be served from the back right corner every time. If they ball
doesn’t make it over or goes out of bounce that is a point for
the other team. Along with if it hits the ground on your side.
The game will go till a team hits 12.
