DIAGNOSTICS
Theory of operation
The mains power enters the plasma arc power supply through the main input switch, the current is
filtered by the EMI filter to avoid interference in the public network under the European Directives.
After being filtered the three-phases current is rectified by the input diode bridges. The phases are
used to feed the auxiliary transformer and fan respectively.
The three-phases current is rectified and filtered to get a continuous bus voltage of about 380 VDC.
This bus voltage is switched, the inverter operates as a pulse-width, modulator-controlled bridge,
the circuit consists of the insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) that are transformed with the
power transformer, rectified by the output diodes and guided through the Pilot Arc IGBT or directly
when the hall sensor detects the arc transfer.
Operation sequence
System OFF
• Adjust the requested cutting current in ampers with the control knob on the front panel.
Checks
This section will describe the steps for effective troubleshooting or malfunction.
Required instrumentation
Digital multimeter.
Troubleshooting
The primary investigation is to establish the source of the fault, plasma arc power supply or the
torch. The most common failures occur at the torch.
Visual inspection
Before connecting the equipment to the mains power source, a visual inspection of the following is
recommended:
• Torch
• Check the torch and leads for damage.
• Replace ALL damaged parts.
• Consumables
• Fit new consumables.
• Ensure that there is smooth unresticted movement of the electrode when fitted in
the holder (cathode plunger).
• Plasma arc power supply
• Remove the handle and the cover, check for discolored / burnt components, loose /
disconnected wiring.

ERROR CODES
H05 During the pilot arc, the nozzle is not separated from the electrode
Cause:
1. Power supply fault.
2. Incorrect connection of the mains power supply.
Solution:
1. Connect the mains power lead correctly.
2. Verify that the range of input voltage is 400 VAC±15% - for power supply 3 x 400 V.
or 220 VAC±15% - for power supply 3 x 220 V.
3. Turn the power switch to „ON“ position.
4. Check the ribbon cable between the control PCB and front panel PCB.
5. Check the pin #32 of MCU on control PCB and test if there is +5 VDC.
If there is no +5 VDC, change the control board.

Measurement procedure:
• Check the IGBT and FRD on the main circuit, including pilot circuit.
• Test C - E of IGBT and A -K of FRD
(“0.3-0.4” - normal status / “OL” & “000” - fault status)
Solution:
• Test and replace damaged IGBT and FRD parts.
LED4 blinks
*
Cause:
1. H04 - Missing nozzle or electrode.
2. H05 - Short circuit inside the torch. (Impurities in the torch.)
Solution:
• Disassemble the torch and clean the conductive impurities inside.
If the torch is in good condition, continue to use it.
If the torch is damaged, replace it.
A-4: There is no pilot arc output, the alarm is not illuminated when the torch
trigger is depressed.
Solution:
1. Use the correct torch type which is suitable for the machine.
2. Check the torch internal components, change the parts if necessary.
3. Air pressure is too high.
4. Check the control PCB and the main PCB (perform complete visual inspection and
relevant measurements, replace damaged parts if necessary).
5. Ensure that the power supply is in the NORMAL mode status
(see section „Switch – selection of the TEST or NORMAL status“).

1. Gas valve fault.
2. Power supply fault.

OT Solution:
1. Check the inside of the power supply and keep well ventilated.
2. Check for blocked fan and correct condition.
3. Cool the power supply down for several minutes and assure that the power supply
is used within the rated duty cycle.
GROUND
PIN 8
OC Solution:
If the voltage of the pin #8 of U203 to ground is „high“ level (the machine inside is in over-
current condition), check the following components: power transformer, output FRD diodes, and
inverter IGBTs on the main PCB (see „component test“ section) or whether there is short circuit in the
control board..
Cause:
1. Torch is not connected or improperly connected to the power supply.
2. Loose or missing retaining cap
LED3 blinks
Solutions:
1. Reconnect the torch and ensure it is connected properly
2. Remove the nozzle retaining cap, nozzle and electrode and clean the inside of torch
then reassemble correctly.
3. Check the cup sensor on the torch head.
4. Install the cap correctly. When the cap is installed correctly the cup sensor must close
the safety circuit.
PIN 20
GROUND
Cause:
1. The input pressure is too low.
2. Pressure switch fault.
GROUND
PIN 3
Solution:
1. Regulate the output dynamic pressure to 5.5 bar / 79.7 psi
2. Clean the gas tube located inside the power supply.
3. Drain the built-in filter.
Solution:
• Change the pressure switch.
