Abstract. The aim of the study: to establish the possible impact of influenza vaccination on the incidence and
severity of influenza A virus in children of Volgograd.Materials and methods. a comparative prospective cohort study
was conducted with the participation of 300 children from 1-18 years old, depending on the presence (140/300) or
absence (160/300) of vaccination against influenza in the current epidemic season. Results. The impact of annual
vaccination on the severity of influenza A in children was assessed. In all children, the diagnosis was established,
confirmed by PCR in a smear from the oropharynx. In the group in which the flu vaccination was carried out, the course
of the disease was mild, without a rise in temperature to febrile numbers and without the development of complications.
In the group where influenza vaccination was not carried out, it was noted that the severity of the disease was moderate,
with the development of various complications in the form of acute otitis, pneumonia. Conclusion. The results of our
own research confirmed the hypothesis about the protective role of vaccination against seasonal influenza on the
incidence and severity of the flu virus in children.
