The Agrianian Infantary Equipment in Alexander the Greats Army


The information about Agrianians equipment is under consideration in the article. The sources give some information about akontistai (javelinmen) and psiloi
(light infantry) as Alexanders Agrianians. Most modern historians believe that the
Agrianians carried only javelins, but, probably, Agrianians were equipped as peltasts.
They had javelins and light shield (pelte). Agrianians carried a machaira or

rhomphaia as a secondary weapon. Some of Alexanders Agrianians were recruited


from the elite shield-bearers of the Agrianian king.
