3. Definitions of Channel Partner Certifications
• GTC: Is a full-service Consolidated service provider channel partner that stocks inventory, supports an assigned
territory with new valve assembly, and supports all service requests in their assigned territory. The GTC will have
the capability and ASME/NBIC certifications to assemble, repair, and test Section I and VIII valves on all media.

• GTC-R: is a Consolidated service provider channel partner that stocks inventory and provides service support for
their assigned territory. This certification is limited to channel partners outside of North America.

• GTC-A: is a Consolidated service provider channel partner that stocks inventory, assembles new valves and
provides service for an assigned territory. This certification is limited to channel partners outside of North America
and requires the channel partner to have any local certification that may be required.

T
• MARC Platinum: is a Masoneilan service provider channel partner that stocks inventory, supports an assigned
territory with new product assembled from the Valvfast program, and is capable of restoring all Masoneilan
products to a like new condition. They are also able to provide application and system support using Masoneilan’s

F
digital offerings and also perform advanced diagnostic evaluations and troubleshooting using Masoneilan Digital
Tools.

A
• MARC: is a Masoneilan service provider channel partner that stocks parts inventory, and is capable of restoring
Masoneilan valves to a like new condition. They can also perform basic diagnostic evaluations and troubleshooting

R
using Masoneilan Digital Tools.

• ValvFast Assembler: is a Masoneilan channel partner that stocks inventory and supports an assigned territory with

D
new product assembled from the ValvFast program

4. Minimum Requirements
A. Service Provider Contracts
Each channel partner must have a completed service provider contract prior to the issuance of any site certification.

B. On-Line Tools:
1. Welcome Package
The Welcome Package Tool is a view of the Channel Partners install base for their designated territory. It also
allows the CP to find a valve and quickly develop a set of spare parts and quote it fast. In fact, it is the easiest
and fastest way to quote spares for a valve. The tool has many other sections of it too such as a channel
inventory sharing portal to upload your inventory and share it amongst the network, it provides a means to submit
a Field/Warranty Issue, provides a means for exploding a BOM/Kit and seeing cross referenced part numbers.
The tool can be found from Channel Connect section called ON-LINE-TOOLS there you will find a link to the
Welcome Package.
The tool has a great HELP & SUPPORT section; simply go to the top right section and click on the drop down
menu; here you will find “mini-video’s” including a user guide and brief video’s; as a starting point for each new
user, it is highly recommended to minimally watch these video’s: Introduction to WP, Global Search and How to
Quote Spare Parts.
Registration to the tool should be automatic once a new user has been setup in Channel Connect. If, for some
reason, you have any issues, go to the HELP & SUPPORT and scroll to the bottom for “Contact Us”; Here you
can request setup and resolution to this issue or for that matter any other issue a user may have.

On-Line Tools (cont.)
2. BOM Update Tool
The BOM update tool located within Welcome Package is a simple and user-friendly process to update the BOM.
Starting with the SN#, the tool opens the BOM for the assembly or completed valve and allows the user to input
part numbers which define the as-built configuration provided to the end user. It will also allow the user to add
non-Baker Hughes PN#’s if a customer requested us to use a competitors positioner. The Welcome Package
tool not only updates the BOM, but it tracks who made the changes and when and why they were made;
ensuring full traceability for changes. Support and training for the feature is available in the help section of the
welcome package tool under Help and Support.
The use of the BOM update tool is mandatory for all channel partners during the initial assembly process, the
repair process, or any modification/conversion requests from either Baker Hughes or the Customer.
If the channel partner experiences technology issues supporting this requirement, they may work through the

T
Aftermarket Product Line Team and Regional Sales Manager to develop an alternate means to ensure the BOM
database is maintained.

F
3. Channel Partner Portal
Baker Hughes will maintain a web based portal to ensure our channel partners have access to all required

A
information. The channel partner should coordinate with their Regional Sales manager to ensure they have
access to the latest systems.

R
4. Channel Connect
Channel connect is the current web based portal for most needed information and also host the links to
numerous other systems that are used by the channel partner. Access to channel connect is through individual

D
account login.
New accounts are created directly through the website and your primary contact is your Regional Service
Manager

5. Valvkeep
ValKeep is a proprietary software program for valve maintenance and management licensed to channel partners.
License fees cover continual upgrades and enhancements to the software.
The tool is designed to ensure all of the valve configuration and service records are available to both you
and your customers. Repair, service, test and performance data are combined to create a permanent, easily
accessible database. It helps GTC customers to achieve a lower ownership cost while attaining the highest
performance from their valves. The program is useful for managing internal records as well as customer valve
data. ValvKeep is only available to Baker Hughes Channel Partners.
It is required that all channel partners obtain the appropriate license for ValvKeep and enter all records including
new valve assembly, repair valves, and Test Only Valves
Contact Aftermarket services for pricing.

6. Valves.BakerHughes.com
The valves.bakerhughes.com website is the external facing public website of the F&PT product line. Customers
can find links to all products, information on available training, access and download brochures, manuals, fact
sheets, software and more. The website will also direct customers to their closest channel partner.

C. Masoneilan & Consolidated ValvFAST Program
This program provides pre-assembled and tested Masoneilan and Consolidated kits for local final assembly and
testing by an authorized channel partner in order to accommodate shorter lead times and end user demands.

The details of each program and availability by product line is described in the associated engineering and marketing
documents available through channel connect. See EG 524 and CES 1096.

Each Consolidated assembly is issued a Serial Number (SN#) by the originating factory which will serve as its
unique identifier through its life cycle. Each Masoneilan body sub-assembly is issued a Serial Number (SN#) by
the originating factory which will serve as its unique identifier through its life cycle. It should NEVER be changed,
removed or altered by the channel partner.

T
The assembly and unique SN# is loaded into the Welcome Package Tool as it is shipped from the factory.

F
As part of the certification program, it is mandatory that the final valve configuration is updated using the BOM
Update feature within the Welcome Package Tool.

A
D. Inventory Levels

R
One of the Channel Partner’s major responsibilities is to maintain sufficient inventory to support the locally assigned
territory. This inventory profile is develop based on the local install base and agreement from the commercial team.

D
Your Regional Sales Manager will periodically review your inventory profile and future requirements.

H. Technical Standards - Consolidated

1. ASME
The ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) is an American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
standard that provides rules for the design, fabrication, and inspection of boilers and pressure vessels.
A pressure component designed and fabricated in accordance with this standard will have a long, useful
service life, and one that ensures the protection of human life and property. Volunteers, who are nominated
to its committees based on their technical expertise and on their ability to contribute to the writing, revising,
interpreting, and administering of the document, write the BPVC.

Originating in 1914, the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code is now adopted in part or in its entirety, by all
states and numerous municipalities and territories of the United States, most provinces of Canada and other
countries around the world.

T
The consolidated product line uses the ASME code requirements as the basis for all design activities and the
product line fully meets all ASME performance requirements if assembled by a site maintaining the appropriate

F
certifications.

In conjunction with the ASME requirements, potential channel partners must complete the National Board of

A
Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors’ “NB” certification and maintain the appropriate capacity certifications
for the products that they wish to sell. Each certification requires a design review, rating factor testing and
demonstration of capability through production samples.

National Board VR
To supplement the initial construction of pressure relief devices, the National Board created an additional
guidance for the purpose of promoting greater safety to life and property by securing concerted action and
maintaining uniformity in post-construction activities of pressure-retaining items, thereby ensuring acceptance
and interchangeability among Jurisdictional authorities responsible for the administration and enforcement of
various codes and standards. In keeping with the principles of promoting safety and maintaining uniformity, the
National Board originally published The NBIC in 1946, establishing rules for inspection and repairs to boilers
and pressure vessels. The National Board Inspection Code (NBIC) Committee is charged with the responsibility
for maintaining and revising the NBIC. In the interest of public safety, the NBIC Committee decided, in 1995,
to revise the scope of the NBIC to include rules for installation, inspection, and repair or alteration to boilers,
pressure vessels, piping, and nonmetallic materials.

The National Board VR certification provides the framework to ensure that all modifications or repairs are
completed in accordance with the original manufacture’s specifications and the relief device will operate in a “as
new” condition.

Additional details associate with ASME and National Board certifications should be obtained through the
corresponding websites.

2. PED
The (PED) European Pressure Equipment Directive (European Commission Directive no. 97/23/EC) is similar
to the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code in that it provides requirements for certain pressure equipment.
However, there is one major difference between the ASME Code and the PED; as a directive, or European law,
PED compliance is mandatory within the European Union (EU) and for components being sent to the EU, for
work on pressure-retaining equipment as defined under that law.

The PED Requirements apply to the assembly of new product for both the Masoneilan and Consolidated product
lines. Channel Partners may be required to obtain the Certification at their own expense if required to support
their assigned region and installed base. The Baker Hughes engineering and quality functions will support the
certification process but will not add the channel partner’s location to an existing certification.

it can demonstrate that the business entity can support the product from another

F
location. These exclusions should be reviewed and approved by the Baker Hughes
Regional Sales Manager
GTC-R/A:

A
• These sites do not require any specific technical certifications but are required to complete the internal Baker
Hughes certification process

R
• GTC-A sites located in the European Union must also obtain an individual site level PED certification to assemble
each specific product.

D
Masoneilan:
• VF & MARC sites do not require any specific technical certifications but are required to complete the internal Baker
Hughes certification process
• Sites located in the European Union must also obtain an individual site level PED certification to assemble each
specific product from Valve Fast kits.

6. Certification Process
a. Valve University Certification:
• Valve University team members will work with regional management in scheduling training workshops in the
global regions—in alignment with the regional priorities, strategies and regional training demands. Training
locations outside the USA will be set by the region management but in general, our preference will be to conduct
and hold the workshops where Baker Hughes training facilities are available.
• Channel Partners interested in participating in these classes should reach out to their Regional Sales Manager
and the Valve University Team.
b. Technician Certification:
1. Initial Certification:
• The Baker Hughes Training and Certification Team currently offers Consolidated, Masoneilan technician
certification by classroom and hands-on instruction. These certifications are intended to develop a
technician’s technical abilities and specific product knowledge. These classes are also designed to
demonstrate the proper application of the product line using the proprietary documentation systems,
manufacturing documentation and detailed product specifications.
• Certification is only eligible for channel partner technicians with a valid distributor or service provider contract
and are only valid while the individual is an employee of that channel partner.
• Certification is granted after attendance of the complete course of instruction and successful completion of
both written examinations and practical demonstrations.

2. Continuing Certification:

T
• Each technician is required to recertify their certification on an annual basis. The recertification is
accomplished by completing an on-line examination to demonstrate they still possess the knowledge and
ability associated with their level of certification.

F
• All Channel Partners will register their active GTC and MARC technicians for annual recertification through
the channel connect portal under the F&PT Channel Partner Service Technician & Training section. The

A
window for registration typically starts in November.
• This process will require body of knowledge exam based of the level of certification (i.e. : GTC-001, MARC-
002, etc.) to which the technician is authorized to perform work.

R
• All technicians will need a unique email address in order to access the recertification test. This email address
does not need to be provided by the employer but must be unique to each technician and serves as the

D
access code to the tests.
• Site Quality/Training leader will receive an email from the Training Manager with the recertification test links to
Classmarker.com for their technicians once all qualifications are verified by the training team. These links will
allow each technician to take the test up to 2 times. After a second failure, the Quality/Training leader must
perform a study session with the technician, and when they are ready, may request a one-time link to allow
the technician one final attempt to pass the test. A third failure will require the technician to re-attend the
certification class.
• Upon passing the recertification test, the technician will receive an email with a link to their annual
recertification certificate, which they must provide to their Quality/Training leader. If the Channel Partner
would prefer to receive these certificates automatically, they can send an email to AftermarketTraining@
BakerHughes.com and their email will be registered to automatically receive the certificates for their team.
• Technicians must score above 75% to receive a passing score. Technicians that score below 25% will not be
allowed to re-certify and will be required to attend the training course a second time.

3. Technicians with a Lapse in Certification:

• Technicians with a lapse in certification less than 24 months will be allowed to recertify using the normal
recertification process. The Site Quality/Training leader should contact the training team to process the
request.
• Technicians with a lapse in certification greater than 24 months will be allowed to take a special exam for the
respective certification level and they must achieve 90%. Technicians scoring below 90% will be required to
attend the training course. Note: this exception does not apply to GTC-3 certification. A lapse greater than
two years in certification for GTC-3 requires attendance at the certification course
