1. EPA’13 MX ENGINE
To respect the new upgrade of the EPA Emission Standards 1.1 Technical data
PACCAR introduced some new improvement for the MX-13
engine and released a new engine called MX-11.
There are many common elements between the 2 engines
and some features are described in the part 1 of this manual.
Except for the HD-OBD introduction there are some
innovations respect to the previous version of the MX-13.
In particular there is:
w
• A new injection system (the old combination of
injection pump – electroinjector for each cylinder was
replaced by a new Common Rail solution) with a double
regulation
• A new version of the ECM now called PCI
• An Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) electronically
controlled and connected via E-CAN
ie
• An improvement of the fuel dosing system for the Diesel
Particulate Filter (DPF)
• An improvement on the cranckcase steam recirculation
with the introduction of a centrifuge with electric motor
and a crankcase pressure sensor
• A compact version of the MX engine brake with 2
solenoid valves (1 for 3 cylinders and not 1 for each
cylinder) for the MX-11
ev
• A Coolant circuit electronic pump
• A single ECU for the management of DPF and SCR

The PCI system is a DELPHI UHPCRS composed by:
• 2 unit pumps with a fuel flow regulator for each one
which provides the high pressure
• 6 electro-injectors
• A pressure regulator installed on the rail
• A pressure sensor on the rail
