Англичане в пять вечера садятся пить чай, и время это для
них священно, знает, наверное, каждый, кто хоть раз в
жизни посмотрел «Приключения Шерлока Холмса и
доктора Ватсона», или прочел один из романов Диккенса.

The English know how to make tea and what it

does for you.

Seven cups of it make you up in the morning; nine

cups will put you to sleep at night.

 If you are hot, tea will cool you off, and if you are
cold, it will warm you up.
What the English think of tea&

If you take it in the middle of the morning, it will stimulate you for further
work; if you drink it in the afternoon, it will relax you for further thought. Тогда,

The test of good tea is simple. If a spoon stands up in it, then it is strong
enough; if the spoon starts to wobble, it is a feeble makeshift.
 The highdays are days which many people can share-

for many years, sometimes for centuries.
 Some British customs and traditions are famous all over the
world: Bowler hats, drinking tea and talking about the weather,
for example.

Вот уже более ста лет день англичанина начинается с
чашечки чая «Английский завтрак».
 Чашечка чая «Английский завтрак» подается к
утренней овсянке, рыбе или яичнице с беконом.
Во время ланча (в 13.00ч.) меню более разнообразное.
Самая известная в мире закуска к послеполуденному
чаю носит имя Лорда Джона Сэндвича.

в 1840 году, когда Герцогиня Анна Бедфордская
Седьмая предложила утолять легкий голод, возникающий
между завтраком и поздним английским обедом, днем
чашкой чая с легкими закусками.
 В соответствии с английским чайным этикетом, ни в коем случае
нельзя ограничиваться одним сортом чая.
Обычно на выбор предлагаются 8-10 сортов чая.
 Here are some ABC of Table manners for the English Tea
drinking. During drinking tea you must follow the next rules:

 You must lay sugar in the tea

carefully.

 You must eat the pie with the help

of spoon but not hands.

 You mustn’t tap the spoon for a

cup stiring tea.

 And one more: during drinking

tea Englishmen speak only about
pleasant things
 Английское чаепитие, как и всякая церемония, не терпит суеты.
Это не только безупречное сочетание скатерти, салфеток, цветов
и чайного сервиза, это и особое поведение за столом.
There are six kinds of tea which are
popular all over the world.
But Englishman most of all prefer
black and green tea.
In cold weather they like to drink tea
with milk.
 But I think it is interesting for us to know how to
prepare аn apple pie. May be you know its recipe.
• - two big apples (2 больших яблока)
• - three eggs (3 яйца)
• - some butter (немного масла)
• - a glass of cream (стакан сливок)
• - one hundred grammas of sugar (100 г
сахара)
• - a glass or two of flour (стакан или два
муки)

And your pie is ready.

1. Fill in the kittle with fresh

water and boil it.
2. As soon as the water is hot
put a little of it into the tea pot
to warm it.
3. Then dry the pot and put in
one spoonful of tea for each
person and one extra for the
pot.
4. Pour the freshly boiled water
into the pot.
5. Let the tea infuse for five
minutes, then stir and serve.
 Iced tea is an American invention.

 Английское чаепитие несет в себе
много правил и чопорности.
Чаепитие в японском стиле хорошо подходит для людей, которые
хотят устроить из пития чая маленький праздник, но не хотят
тратить на это особенно много времени и пространства. Здесь
больше молчат, чем разговаривают.
Если вас интересует именно общение, чай по-русски — это ваш чай.

 Сахар стал популярен в Великобритании и ее колониях
почти одновременно с чаем — в конце XVII века.

На каждой кухне в те времена

присутствовал целый арсенал
инструментов: щипцы для сахара,
нож-колун и ваза для сахара, готового
к чаю. Тогда же появились и чайные
ложки, которыми не только отмеряли
дозу, но и размешивали сахар. В наше
время к чаю подается ваза с белым
рафинадом в кубиках, щипцами,
которые играют скорее роль пинцета,
и чайные ложки. После размешивания
чайную ложку принято вынимать и
класть рядом на поднос, но не на
блюдце, так как англичане, поднося
одной рукой чашку ко рту, другой
поддерживают блюдце на 8-10 см ниже.
Англичане любят чай с лимоном, хотя
сами называют его «русским чаем».
1 сентября не только День знаний. 1 сентября 1904-го года американец
Томас Салливан впервые запатентовал специальные пакетики с
расфасованным чаем для быстрой заварки.
Название профессии «Титестер» происходит от двух английских слов «tea» -
чай и « test» - пробовать, дегустировать, тестировать.
«Титестер» - это профессиональный дегустатор чая.

 Главный секрет чайной церемонии:
Чаепитие будет вдвойне приятнее, если провести его в компании
хороших друзей, как это делают современные английские
ценители чая.
«Легче представить Британию без королевы, чем без чая»,
- шутят англичане
