Updates

The following sections describe how to install the software.

All other programs should be closed before you start installing the software. You can replace specific
system files without restarting the program.

The installation of the software is not automatically started.

The installation is completely canceled if you click the "Cancel" button during the installation.

All messages during the installation process must be carefully read and observed.

Installing OPENpara
Procedure:

1. Download the software via the DEOS partner area on our homepage and save it on the PC.

2. Open the corresponding directory on the PC and select the installation file.

The name of the installation file may be modified with respect to the version number "x.x" e.g. "Setup_
OPENpara_3.2.2.exe" is different.

3. Start the installation by double-clicking the installation file or the corresponding icon.

4. Confirm the query of the user account control asking whether program changes are to be allowed on the
computer with "Yes".

4
5. To start the installation wizard, click "Next".

6. Define the target directories for the software. The destination for the software is preset. To continue with
the installation, click "Install".

To install the corresponding data in another directory, click the button "Browse..." and select the desired
directory.

When selecting the directory, make sure that the database subsequently assigns write access to this
directory.

Destination folder:
Files that are necessary for the software to function are installed in this directory.
(default: C:\Program Files (x86)\DEOS\OPENpara)

5
7. The installation status is displayed according to the progress of the operation. This procedure can take
several minutes.

Updates
Updates can be downloaded in the download area of our homepage at any time.

The numbers in the name of the update file can be used to determine whether a full version is updated or
OPENpara is updated to the next higher version using the update file:

Update of a full version → "OPENpara_3.0.3.exe"

Update to a full version → "OPENpara_3.4.0.exe"

A corresponding earlier version of OPENpara must be installed to successfully upgrade it.

Details on this are provided in section „2. Commissioning“ on page 4.

n #Header Information line

A DPC file is a configuration file for the OPENpara program.

Configuration line (per OPEN EMS):

Each configuration line contains information about one OPEN EMS. The control word "OPEN EMS"
initiates the configuration. This is followed by an ID for the data records, the IP address under which the
OPEN EMS can be reached, and the associated port, as the communication interface between
OPENpara and an OPEN EMS (default 3050).
Information line:
The information line provides information about how to evaluate the information in the column.
All headings of the information line are mandatory.

The information line may only be assigned once.

#HEADER:
OPEN EMS:
Specification of the ID of the OPEN EMS to which the label information belongs.
FUP PAGE:
FUP page on which the label can be found.

11
LABEL:
Specification of the name of the label.
VALUE:
Specification of the value of the label.
WARNING:
Specification of non-critical warnings.
Non-critical warnings are, for example, changed values after a write operation.
Although these are reported, they may be due to the normal working process of the
OPEN EMS.
EXCEPTION:
Specification of critical errors.
Errors classified as critical may be, for example, unknown labels, an incorrect
configuration or the case that an OPEN EMS can not be reached.
COMMENT:
Specification of a comment field.
The comment field is intended exclusively for parameters that are not overwritten.
Under certain circumstances, the comment field may be emptied when reading or
writing.
Data area:

The labels are displayed and managed in the data area of the data table.

By adding a new line and typing the character "#" as the first character in the first column, a "normal" data
line in the data area becomes an information line of the data overview. This procedure makes it possible
to add further individual information.

For the data area, each value is valid until it changes. This means that if, in the compressed mode, the ID
"0" is assigned in the first line of the data area for the OPEN EMS, the input is also valid for all
subsequent lines until a new value is registered, e.g. "1".

Toolbar
The following tools for editing the data table are available in the toolbar:

Sort:
The data of the data table are sorted according to different criteria.
Display:
The data table can be displayed in compressed form.
Any change in the compressed display directly affects the subsequent lines.

Search:
The data table is searched for specific content.
Details on this are provided in section „Search content“ on page 26.

Filter:
The data table is filtered for specific content.
Details on this are provided in section „Filter content“ on page 28.

Settings:
Enable or disable the case-sensitive option for the "Filter" and "Search" areas in the data table and
toolbar.
