General safety regulations
Applicable standards and guidelines

2 General safety regulations

The position indicator may only be operated in perfect working condition in a proper manner, safely and in
compliance with the manual, the valid accident prevention regulations and the guidelines of the local power
company.
The safety guidelines of the FST manual and the FST Installation and Commissioning manual apply for
this product.

2.1 Applicable standards and guidelines

All EAZ-TFT.110 position indicators comply with...
• DIN EN 81; Part 1 and 2: safety guidelines for the construction and installation of passenger and goods
passenger lifts,
• DIN VDE 0100: conditions for the erection of high voltage installations with nominal voltages up to 1 kV,
• VDE 0106: the contact protection measures in the machine room,
• Data sheet ZH 1/312: safety measures for the installation, maintenance and commissioning of lift systems.

2.2 Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)

The FST control system and its components were inspected by an accredited inspection authority in accord-
ance with the limit values and severity levels stated in EN 12015/1995 and EN 12016/1995.
The FST control system and its components are...
• immune to electrostatic discharge (EN 61000-4-2/1995)
• immune to electrostatic fields (EN 61000-4-3/1997)
• immune to fast transient disturbances (EN 61000-4-4/1995)
The electromagnetic disturbance field strengths created by the FST control system and its components do not
exceed the permissible thresholds (EN 55011/1997).

2.3 Handling electronic assemblies

• Keep the electronic assembly in its original packaging until installation to prevent damage.
• Before opening the original packaging, a static discharge must be performed!
To do this, touch a grounded piece of metal.
• During work on electronic assemblies, periodically repeat this discharge procedure!
• Equip all bus inputs/outputs not in use with a terminal resistor (terminator) to prevent malfunctions.

► In the drop-down menu under "Format", set the desired date format ("Day-Month-Year" or
"Month-Day-Year").
► Use the arrow buttons next to "Position" to change the number values in the numerical fields for positioning
the date and time. You can also enter the number values by hand.

If desired, you can change the way in which the month names are written.
Bear in mind, however, that you may need to reduce the font size due to space reasons in
order to display the entire text.

You can add shadows to the floor designations and arrows to give them a three dimensional appearance. The
shadow width, softness, angle, colour and random noise can be changed.

Fig. 6.16: Shadow effect setting

► Use the slide control next to "Shadow Depth" to place the shadow.
► Under "Softness", set how sharp or soft the shadow should be drawn.
► Use "Angle" to specify the direction in which the shadow should fall.
► Select the shadow colour under "Colour".
► Set the shadow noise under "Noise".

If you would like to reset your settings, click on the "Set Shadow Defaults" button.

657 Bevel effect

With the bevel effect, you can give floor designations and arrows a plastic effect. You can decide between the
various widths and natures of the effect.

Fig. 6.17: Bevel effect setting

► Use the slide control next to "Width" to set the bevel effect.
► Select the type of effect using the drop-down menu next to "Effect".

For some colours, bevel effects are not visible or are difficult to see.
If the bevel effect is activated and no effect is visible, it may be due to your design settings.
Modify the design if necessary.

658 Miscellaneous effects

Using this window you can increase the random noise of the display or darken it.

Fig. 6.18: Setting options for other effects

► Use "Noise (anti-stripes)" to set the noise in the display.

► Adjust the slide control next to "Shading" to regulate the brightness of the display.

If you would like to reset your settings, click on the "Set Defaults" button.

66 Background area

You can modify the background in your position indicator, e.g., by loading a photo. Alternatively, you can work
with background colours and gradients instead of a background image.

Fig. 6.19: Background area

Loading your own background (graphic) in the display

► Click on the "Load Image" button.
► Select the desired graphic by means of a mouse click.
► Click on "Open".
The graphic is loaded in the background.

Provided the graphic selected by you supports transparency (e.g., in PNG format), you can
combine the display of the background colours with the graphic. The colours are displayed in
the transparent areas of the graphic.

Using gradients
Under "Gradient Properties" you have the possibility to give the background of your position indicator a gradi-
ent as well as to modify this gradient as you wish.
► Click on the drop-down menu next to "Colour Top" to set the desired colour to be displayed in the upper part
of the position indicator.
► Proceed likewise with the drop-down menus next to "Colour Middle" and "Colour Bottom" to select the
colours for the middle and bottom.
► Adjust the slide control next to "Position Middle" to change the position of the middle.

Under Transparency you have the option to specify the transparency of the background.
► Under "Colour (behind transparency)", first set the colour that is to appear behind the gradient.
► Use the slide control next to "Transparency" to specify how strongly the selected background colour is to
appear through the gradient. The further you move the slide control to the left, the stronger the colour behind
the transparency appears.

6.8 Tips for creating position indicators

If you would like to create your own personal position indicator:
• First select a background (e.g., an image file with your company logo) and then position the display ele-
ments. You thereby ensure that the display elements are in harmony with the background.
• Open the display layout field and leave this open during the entire design process. You can change the
position of the individual elements at any time by using the dotted lines.
• In the display layout field, select whether you would like to display extended display texts.
Specify whether you will use a single-coloured background or a photo or image file.
• If you open this arrow-type field: make certain that the "Separate editable down arrow" checkbox is deac-
tivated. An activated checkbox is only necessary if you would like to have different up and down arrows. If
this is the case, please only activate the checkbox after completing the editing and then make the individual
settings for the down or departure arrow.
• Move the dotted lines using the drag and drop function and change the position of the display elements.
• If you want to set the arrows above or below the floor texts or want to display extended floor texts, you must
first move the dotted lines before these settings will be visible.
