Настоящее пособие предназначено для курсантов старших курсов специальности 26.05.05


(Судовождение на морских и внутренних водных путях) очной и заочной форм обучения.

Цель данного пособия — создание прочных навыков владения лексикой, употребляю-
щейся в заголовках, примечаниях и предостережениях английских адмиралтейских карт, и обу-

Требования к результатам освоения материала — умение переводить заголовки, приме-

Пособие предназначено для курсантов старших курсов специальности 26.05.05 (Судо-


вождение на морских и внутренних водных путях) очной и заочной формы обучения.
В отношении профессионального английского языка, Конвенция ПДНВ определяет для
судоводителей следующие компетенции: «Достаточное знание английского языка, позволяющее
лицу командного состава пользоваться картами и другими навигационными пособиями, пони-

судов, поддерживать связь с другими судами, береговыми станциями и центрами СДС, а также

Due to the age, quality and origin of some of the source material, positions obtained from some satel-

lite navigation systems may, in certain areas, be more accurate than those on the chart.

To enhance clarity, depiction of detail, including aids to navigation, has been simplified or omitted in

areas covered by larger scale charts. (For more detailed information, see the larger scale charts and ap-
propriate Admiralty publications.)

Positions obtained from satellite navigation systems, such as the Global Positioning System (GPS), are

normally referred to the World Geodetic System 1984 Datum. Such positions can be plotted directly
on this chart.

102º03´E), are based on Indonesian Chart 18. Mariners are warned that these positions differ from In-
donesian smaller scale charts by varying amounts. Positions within the area of chart 3933 should be
transferred by bearing and distance from common charted objects, not by latitude and longitude.

There are numerous pieces of wreckage, some of which dry at Low Water Springs, on the Cant.

h. YANTLET CHANNEL DEPTHS

Dredging works to deepen the channel further are taking place from 2013 to 2014. For the latest infor-
mation, contact London VTS.

i. YANTLET SECONDARY CHANNELS

The minimum depth within the Yantlet Secondary Channels is 6 m. Vessels which can safely navigate
outside the main Yantlet channel should do so.

Within the 10 metre contour, hydrographic detail is incomplete. To the North of 55º10´N, a 6 metre

contour is shown and to the South, a 5 metre contour. For inshore waters, Danish and German large
scale navigation charts or small craft charts should be used.

Depths in the vicinity of Redsand (54º35´N 11º45´E) are variable. The shoals and small islets fre-
quently change shape and position. Stones exist within the 10 metre depth contour. Larger vessels are

recommended to keep outside the 20 metre depth contour.

q. SUNK DREDGED CHANNEL

The Sunk Channel has a designed depth of 8.8 metres but depths are continually changing and the full
width of the Channel is seldom available. The Harbour Master, Humber, should be consulted for the
latest information.

r. CHANGING DEPTHS

Depths in the River Humber are subject to frequent change; the buoyage and other aids to navigation
are adjusted accordingly.

s. MAINTAINED DEPTHS

The depths shown in the dredged channels and harbours are generally maintained but silting is liable
to occur. The maintained depths in the dock area are reduced to mean harbor level.

t. CHENAL DE ROUEN

The access channel to Rouen is regularly surveyed by the Rouen Port Authorities. Owing to constant

changes in the channel, less water than indicated may exist. For further information, contact La Seine

Extensive dredging over several years has been carried out in the area east of Batu Berhanti (1º11´.1N

103º53´.0 E) (shown as “1” in the Source Diagram). However, owing to the nature of the survey data
(recorded as the average depth in a 30 metre square area) it is possible that depths shoaler than charted
may exist.

x. DREDGING AREA

Dredging operations will be carried out in the westbound lane of the Traffic Separation Scheme until
December 2011. Navigational warning broadcasts will be made by the Vessel Traffic Service of Sin-

gapore (VTIS) to inform vessels of the dredging operation. Mariners are advised to navigate with cau-

tion, proceed at a safe speed when approaching the area and keep well clear of the working vessels.

y. RECLAMATION WORKS IN PROGRESS (1º16´.0N 103º47´.1E)

Reclamation works are in progress in this area. The working area is marked by buoys. Mariners are

advised to keep well clear. The wharves of Pasir Panjang will be taken out of use as the reclamation
progresses. Depths within the working areas will be shallower as the reclamation progresses. For fur-

z. OUTFALLS – DIFFUSERS (1º17´.5 N 104º02´.4 E)

a. TIDAL STREAMS AND CURRENTS

The approximate time and turn of the tidal stream may be obtained by applying the intervals given on

the pecked lines to the time of HW at Gibraltar. The tidal stream may attain the velocity of 3 knots in-

ак
shore of the inner pecked line, the velocity decreasing offshore to less than 1.5 knots at the outer
pecked lines. In the centre of the Strait runs an eastward ocean current uninfluenced by the tidal


stream; its velocity is variable, but generally strongest south of Pta. Del Acebuche (36º03´N 5º28´W).
From the centre of the Strait to the shore, ocean current velocity decreases and tidal stream influence
increases. For further details, see Admiralty Sailing Directions.


b. SVITRINGEN RENDE

The predominant current in Svitringen Rende is N-NE going with rates up to 2-2.5 knots.

c. CURRENTS

In the Malta Channel, the current is affected by the wind but normally sets east-south-eastward at rates

of up to 1.5 knots. Along the south coast of Sicilia there is usually a south-east going current of 0.5
knot, but a strong counter current and onshore sets up to 1 knot may be experienced.

d. CURRENTS

Currents are very variable especially in the vicinity of the main islands. Currents with westerly compo-
nents and flowing with rates up to 0.5 knot predominate throughout the year. For further information

e. CAUTION – SELAT TANJONG HAKIM

The use of Selat Tanjong Hakim during the flood stream is not recommended and should never be at-

tempted by low-powered vessels.

f. CURRENTS

The predominant current is the North Equatorial Current which sets northwesterly throughout the year.
The average rate is one knot, though rates of two knots may be encountered between September and
May. Variable currents with onshore sets may be encountered west of Barbados.

g. CURRENTS

During the winter months the Davidson Current sets close inshore and flows predominantly north-
ward, with rates of up to 0.5 knot. The current is influenced by prevailing winds and may be reversed.
In summer a weak northerly flow may be encountered. Further from the coast, the southerly sets of the

5. SUBMARINE CABLES AND PIPELINES

1. Mariners are advised not to anchor or trawl in the vicinity of submarine cables and within 500
metres north or south of the gas pipeline. The landing place of submarine cables are indicated by
black anchor symbols on white boards, usually illuminated at night. Ships should not anchor
within one cable of any submarine cable so marked. See Annual Notices to Mariners No 24 and
the Mariner’s Handbook.

d. TUNNY NETS

Tunny nets may exist off the coast of Spain, extending as much as 7 miles from the shore. Mariners

a. PORT REGULATIONS

A 500 metre inshore traffic lane south of the outer breakwaters is established for the use of small craft
in transit. Small craft may only enter the Port of Genova via the Bocca di Levante (44º23´.5 N 8º56´.4

E). For full details of this and other port regulations see Admiralty Sailing Directions and Admiralty
List of Radio Signals Volume 6.

b. APPROACH CHANNEL. FRENCH REGULATIONS

Vessels exceeding 1600 GRT laden with hydrocarbons or other dangerous cargoes must keep at least 7
nautical miles off the coast, except if entering Golfe de Fos or Marseille when the charted approach
channels must be used. For details see Admiralty Sailing Directions.

Outward bound vessels should report to London VTS on the appropriate frequency when they reach

i. HIGH SPEED CRAFT


Ф

High speed craft operate in the Strait of Gibraltar. Mariners are advised to maintain a good lookout.
Some high speed craft generate large waves, which can have a serious impact on small craft and their
moorings close to the shoreline and on shallow off-lying banks.

j. ENTRY RESTRICTED (1º17´.1 N 103º59´.0 E)

Vessels over 49 metres high must obtain written permission from the Port Master to enter the Eastern
Petroleum (B) Anchorage, Eastern Petroleum (Q) Anchorage, Eastern Special Purpose Anchorage and
the extreme western part of the Eastern Special Purpose (B) Anchorage.

k. RESTRICTED AREAS

Restricted Areas marked by yellow or red buoys which may be joined by wire ropes, are located in
various coastal bays. These areas are reserved for swimmers between June and September with the ex-
ception of the area between Kemmunett and Kemmuna (36º00´.8 N 14º19´.4 E) which is reserved for
swimmers between May and September. The markers and wire ropes may remain in place all year. For
further details, see Admiralty Sailing Directions.

l. RESTRICTED AREA

Vessels may cross the Restricted Area adjacent to the airfield at Etang de Vaine (43º27´.00 N,

5º12´.00 E) provided that they do not obstruct aircraft. Stopping and maneuvering are not permitted.

m. HELICOPTER OPERATIONS

Pilot transfer by means of helicopter may be expected in circular areas around the pilot boarding
ground symbol marked by letter H. The radius of this circle is given in nautical miles. See the Nether-


lands Coast Pilot (HP1) or Admiralty List of Radio Signals.


n. PROHIBITED AREA – CHANGI NAVAL BASE (1º18´.4 N 104º01´.8 E)

No vessels of any description except those authorized by the Commander, Republic of Singapore
